📋 Description
- • The Collection Representative II at CO-OP Financial Services (operating as Velera) plays a critical role in recovering delinquent debt by managing a portfolio of charged-off accounts with principal balances of $2,501 and greater, using strategic negotiation and compliance-driven practices to resolve accounts while supporting members in financial recovery.
- • Day to day, the representative reviews account queues, applies skip tracing techniques using credit bureau reporting (CBR), negotiates payment arrangements or settlements, documents all interactions accurately, follows up on unresolved cases, participates in monthly training, and ensures strict adherence to FDCPA and company policies.
- • Velera is a leading payments credit union service organization (CUSO) and fintech provider serving over 4,000 financial institutions across North America, committed to a people-helping-people culture that emphasizes inclusion, psychological safety, and innovation in financial services.
- • In this role, the individual will develop expertise in debt collection strategies, regulatory compliance (FDCPA), credit reporting systems, and member-centered negotiation — building transferable skills in financial services, customer resolution, and compliance while contributing to the financial well-being of members and the success of partner institutions.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum one year of collections or sales experience
- • High school diploma or GED equivalent
- • Strong understanding of FDCPA and ability to maintain strict regulatory compliance
- • Proficiency in skip tracing and credit bureau reporting (CBR) techniques
- • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to resolve delinquent accounts
- • Ability to accurately document account activity and manage a high-volume portfolio
