  • • Own the full sales cycle for commercial accounts, from initial outreach and prospecting to negotiation and closing, with a focus on companies with fewer than 1,000 employees.
  • • Drive new business growth by identifying and qualifying prospects through both outbound and inbound channels within the commercial segment.
  • • Identify and pursue upsell and expansion opportunities with existing customers to increase account penetration and revenue.
  • • Deliver customized product demonstrations of Astro, Astronomer’s unified DataOps platform powered by Apache Airflow®, highlighting its impact on data reliability, analytics, and AI enablement.
  • • Craft tailored proposals that align Astro’s capabilities with customer outcomes, emphasizing value for data teams and technical users.
  • • Collaborate closely with marketing, sales engineering, and product teams to ensure cohesive customer experiences and support long-term success.
  • • Maintain and enhance a robust pipeline using CRM systems such as Salesforce and sales automation tools like Apollo to track activities, forecasts, and conversions.
  • • Stay current on trends in data orchestration, cloud-based platforms, and the competitive landscape to effectively position Astro as the industry-leading solution.
  • • Leverage AI-powered tools (e.g., Claude) and experiment with data-driven automations to innovate and optimize sales processes alongside the commercial sales team.
  • • Operate in a hybrid environment with a minimum of three days per week in the New York City office, including occasional travel to meet with customers and internal teams.
  • • Contribute to building a collaborative, high-performing sales culture where wins are celebrated and insights are shared across the team.
  • • Act as a trusted advisor to commercial customers, building rapport with diverse stakeholders across technical and business functions.
  • • Consistently meet or exceed established sales quotas in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment.
  • • Proactively manage time and priorities to sustain momentum across a diverse book of business spanning new and existing accounts.
  • • Represent Astronomer as a thought leader in modern data infrastructure by understanding the needs of data teams, developers, and analytics-focused organizations.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Experience carrying a quota at a SaaS company in the data platform or cloud-based solution space
  • • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas in high-growth environments
  • • Experience selling to companies in the commercial segment with fewer than 1,000 employees
  • • Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and sales automation tools (e.g., Apollo)
  • • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with diverse stakeholders
  • • Self-starter mindset with high drive and accountability to build and manage a pipeline independently
