đź“‹ Description
- • As a Contract Specialist at Nelnet Business Services (NBS), you will play a critical role in supporting the end-to-end contract lifecycle that enables Nelnet to deliver payment technology, education services, and learning management solutions to over 1,300 higher education institutions, 11,500 K-12 schools, and 3,500 faith-based organizations worldwide. Your work ensures contractual accuracy, compliance, and timely execution—directly impacting client satisfaction, revenue integrity, and operational efficiency across a mission-driven organization committed to creating opportunities for people where they live, learn, and work.
- • You will facilitate and support the contract workflow from intake through document fulfillment and execution to back-end processing, ensuring documentation requests are completed, delivered, executed, and processed timely. This includes developing and drafting contract documentation by identifying and clarifying requirements, researching client-specific information and historical files, and verifying details with subject matter experts (SMEs), key stakeholders, and leadership as appropriate. You will ensure all documentation is accurate and formatted according to client, business, and company standards, obtaining internal quality control approvals to verify compliance with applicable business and product-specific guidelines.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include reviewing, editing, and finalizing agreements and other documentation; processing documents for execution and facilitating hand-off for implementation. You will coordinate with team members to ensure effective workflow, consistent process execution, and unified approaches to contract management, while leveraging technology to facilitate an efficient contract management process. You will interface regularly with finance, legal, sales, business development, sales operations, and other business teams to address and resolve contract-related issues.
- • You will research contract matters of low- to mid-level complexity and provide requested information and/or recommended courses of action for consideration. You will stay abreast of changes in product/service offerings, translating those updates into documentation enhancements (e.g., language, terms, pricing) and maintaining all document templates. You will track and manage inventory of documentation requests from internal and external sources, reporting on contract process metrics such as request volume, status, and execution. You will manage new and existing contracts and files—both paper and electronic—to ensure organized file structure and accurate record retention.
- • You will evaluate processes, approaches, coordination, and templates to recommend and implement changes for continuous contract process and content improvement. You will assist with special projects as directed by leadership, contributing to innovation and operational excellence. You will work within a culture of service that values creativity, innovation, and long-term partnerships, where your contributions directly support Nelnet’s mission to empower education and faith-based communities through trusted, technology-driven solutions.
- • In this role, you will develop deep expertise in contract lifecycle management within a regulated, education-focused industry, gaining hands-on experience with CRM systems (Salesforce), document management platforms, and cross-functional collaboration at scale. You will sharpen your analytical, organizational, and communication skills while building a professional portfolio of high-quality, compliant contract documentation. This position offers a clear pathway to grow into senior contract management, legal operations, or business analyst roles within Nelnet’s expanding enterprise, supported by tuition reimbursement, performance-based incentives, and a commitment to internal mobility and professional development.
🎯 Requirements
- • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, accounting, law, English, technical writing, or a related field.
- • 2+ years of work experience in a professional business setting, ideally in an analytical, technical problem-solving, or project coordination/management role with cross-functional collaboration.
- • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint), databases, CRM systems (Salesforce), and Adobe Acrobat.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, HSA and FSA accounts, generous earned time off, 401(k) with student loan repayment assistance, life insurance & AD&D insurance, employee assistance program, employee stock purchase program, tuition reimbursement, performance-based incentive pay, short- and long-term disability, and a robust wellness program.
- • Opportunity to work remotely as part of a mission-driven organization committed to creating opportunities for people where they live, learn, and work.
- • Access to professional development resources, including tuition reimbursement and internal mobility pathways, within a stable, growing Fortune 1000 company with a strong culture of service, integrity, and innovation.
