đź“‹ Description
- • Own end-to-end inventory accounting and control across a portfolio of venture-backed startups, including valuation, reconciliation, cycle counts, and physical audits to ensure alignment between system records and physical inventory.
- • Apply and maintain appropriate costing methodologies (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average) tailored to each client’s industry and operational model, ensuring accurate COGS and inventory valuation under GAAP.
- • Identify, investigate, and resolve inventory variances rapidly to minimize shrinkage, obsolescence, and excess carrying costs, driving improved working capital efficiency.
- • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements compliant with GAAP, with specialized focus on inventory reporting, COGS analysis, and gross margin insights customized to each client’s business model.
- • Build and maintain management reporting packages that deliver actionable financial insights—focusing on decision-driving metrics, not just compliance.

- • Partner with operations and fulfillment teams to align financial controls with daily workflows, ensuring seamless integration between inventory management and accounting systems.
- • Lead ERP and inventory software implementations, migrations, and optimizations (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Cin7, Fishbowl), ensuring data integrity and audit-ready records at all times.
- • Train client staff on accounting procedures, system best practices, and internal controls to ensure consistent and compliant financial operations across client organizations.
- • Serve as a strategic financial advisor to startup founders and leadership teams on cash flow planning, purchasing strategy, inventory investment, and growth-related financial decisions.
- • Provide budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling with specific emphasis on inventory-related costs, pricing decisions, and COGS sensitivity.
- • Proactively flag financial risks and opportunities in inventory and operational performance, transitioning from a reporting role to a trusted partner in strategic planning.
- • Support due diligence, ASC 606 compliance, equity accounting, audit preparation, and legal document reviews (contracts, leases, insurance).
- • Manage all core accounting operations: invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, project accounting, and month-end/year-end close processes.
- • Oversee weekly cash flow forecasting, monthly financial close, and annual budgeting cycles while monitoring client financial performance against targets.
- • Evaluate variances between actual results and budgets, delivering clear business insights to guide management decisions.
- • Manage relationships with banks, tax accountants, corporate insurance providers, and external auditors.
- • Optimize financial systems (QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Expensify) and recommend or implement new tools to enhance efficiency, controls, and scalability.
- • Ensure all accounting policies and processes are thoroughly documented and consistently applied across client engagements.
- • Oversee administrative and operational functions including payroll, HR support, IT coordination, and legal compliance as needed.
- • Provide analysis to determine appropriate annual bill rate changes and review PCEs and client contracts to help structure payment schedules.
- • Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all client interactions, especially when handling sensitive financial and legal data.
🎯 Requirements

- • 10+ years of small company finance and accounting experience
