- • Lead day-to-day corporate security operations for OpenAI’s San Francisco office, developing and implementing physical security measures including policies, systems, and vendor relationships to protect employees, executives, and visitors.
- • Support the International Director in safeguarding OpenAI’s global office footprint by assisting with the development and alignment of physical security policies and procedures consistent with U.S. and main office standards, including ongoing threat mitigation strategies.
- • Collaborate with the Resilience Team to update and refine security policies and procedures for events, ensuring integration with Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) support protocols.
- • Serve as the primary liaison with local law enforcement agencies, peer security organizations, and external security partners to monitor emerging threats and maintain situational awareness.
- • Act as the main point of contact for the Corporate Security Operations team on global policy and procedure development, contributing to all Corporate Security pillars as needed.
- • Create, revise, and execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for security operations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and high-quality operational standards.
- • Design and deliver training programs for both internal security personnel and broader employee teams to ensure consistent understanding and adherence to security protocols.
- • Manage and oversee third-party vendor security teams, including evaluation, selection, performance monitoring, and contract management to ensure service quality and alignment with OpenAI’s security objectives.
- • Optimize and maintain advanced security technologies including access control systems, surveillance networks, video management platforms, and intrusion detection systems.
- • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to embed security best practices into daily operations, events, and organizational initiatives while adapting swiftly to emerging risks or changes in the threat landscape.
- • Ensure all security practices meet legal and regulatory requirements, particularly in alignment with U.S. and local ordinances including the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and California Fair Chance Act.
- • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of proprietary, confidential, and non-public information, with direct responsibility for protecting secure information technology systems and related data.
- • Operate with a minimum of 4–5 days per week in the San Francisco office to ensure hands-on leadership and immediate response capability to security incidents or operational needs.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of experience in corporate or vendor security operations
- • 5+ years of experience in law enforcement or military environments
- • Degree in English, English writing, or communication
- • Proven experience managing vendor security teams and third-party security services
- • Demonstrated expertise in advanced security technologies (access control, surveillance, video management, intrusion detection)
- • Track record of developing, revising, and executing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and associated training programs
