📋 Description
- • Amgen Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Corporate Sustainability Manager to join their team remotely in the United States. This pivotal role is responsible for the comprehensive management and continuous improvement of Amgen’s sustainability data, reporting, and technology infrastructure. The successful candidate will own the design, implementation, operationalization, and ongoing optimization of sustainability reporting systems and associated internal controls, ensuring the highest standards of data quality, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance across all voluntary and mandated disclosures.
- • Operating with a significant degree of autonomy, this individual will independently lead complex, cross-functional initiatives. A key aspect of the role involves proactively anticipating potential regulatory, data, and system-related risks, and subsequently designing and implementing robust mitigation strategies to ensure operational continuity, unwavering compliance, and seamless alignment with enterprise-wide objectives. The Manager will be instrumental in fostering strong collaborative relationships across critical departments including Audit, Digital Technology & Innovation (DTI), Finance, and various business functions. Furthermore, the role demands a proactive approach to capability-building, aiming to elevate the organization’s collective maturity in sustainability data ownership and control mechanisms.
- • A primary responsibility is to oversee the complete lifecycle of the Corporate Sustainability data hub, from its finalization and implementation through to its ongoing operationalization, performance monitoring, and continuous enhancement. This includes ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, and effectively supports Amgen's sustainability reporting needs.
- • The Manager will lead the end-to-end implementation and day-to-day administration of specialized regulatory sustainability reporting software. This involves ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements, maintaining the integrity of the data within the system, and driving user adoption across relevant teams.
- • A crucial part of the role involves maintaining and evolving Amgen's sustainability technology platforms. This ensures that these systems remain scalable, incorporate effective internal controls, and are fully aligned with the broader enterprise architecture strategy.
- • To enhance efficiency and scalability, the Manager will explore and apply innovative AI and automation solutions to streamline Corporate Sustainability processes, reducing manual effort and improving data accuracy.
- • The role requires leading the development and execution of a technology-focused roadmap for internal controls. This includes creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation to guarantee audit readiness and meet all regulatory compliance obligations.
- • Proactive risk identification is paramount. The Manager must identify potential data, process, system, and regulatory risks, and then design and implement effective mitigation strategies and preventive controls to preemptively address these challenges.
- • Close collaboration with Internal Audit, DTI, and Finance departments is essential to ensure alignment of systems, controls, and data architecture, fostering a unified approach to sustainability data management.
- • The Manager will partner closely with various business stakeholders to facilitate the collection, validation, and meticulous management of sustainability data required for accurate and timely reporting.
- • Management of external consultants engaged in sustainability technology initiatives will be a key responsibility, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within scope.
- • Support for the external audit of Amgen’s sustainability data is a critical function, requiring preparation of documentation and participation in audit processes.
- • Monitoring and responding to inquiries from ESG rating agencies is necessary to maintain Amgen's profile and ensure accurate representation of its sustainability performance.
- • Conducting peer benchmarking analyses will inform internal strategic decisions and identify best practices in sustainability reporting and management.
- • Coordination and timely response to various ESG surveys are required to meet external reporting obligations and stakeholder expectations.
- • Amgen is dedicated to its mission of serving patients by pioneering biotechnology to treat serious illnesses. This role contributes directly to that mission by ensuring transparent and accurate reporting of the company's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, which is increasingly vital for patient trust and long-term business success. The Corporate Sustainability Manager will play a key role in communicating Amgen's commitment to responsible business practices and its positive impact on society and the environment.
