📋 Description

• As the Country Manager for Sportygroup B.V., you will serve as the primary local market owner for one or more African territories within the Business Development function, accountable for driving commercial performance, managing regulatory relationships, overseeing provider partnerships, and ensuring product localization aligns with market needs and company objectives. This role is critical to expanding Sportygroup’s footprint in high-potential iGaming markets, requiring deep local expertise and end-to-end ownership to navigate complex regulatory landscapes while delivering sustainable growth.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing and executing market entry and expansion strategies, identifying revenue growth opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with local gambling boards, regulators, and testing laboratories to ensure full compliance with licensing conditions and legal requirements. You will lead commercial negotiations with local, regional, and international providers across payments, communications, content, data, risk, fraud, and infrastructure, managing contracts to secure favourable and compliant terms while navigating exclusivity and trade restraints ethically.
• You will drive product and content localization by advising on pricing logic, sports and casino coverage, betting rules, terms and conditions, and local betting behaviours, ensuring offerings are culturally relevant and regulatorily suitable. Additionally, you will oversee sports and product performance at a strategic level, escalate risks or opportunities to Trading, Product, and Marketing teams, and collaborate with growth and promotions teams to enhance acquisition and retention.
• Acting as the vital bridge between the market and internal teams, you will align stakeholders across Payments, Compliance, Product, Marketing, Trading, Customer Support, Finance, and Operations around local priorities and timelines. You will support the setup of efficient local workflows in customer support, risk, and operations, manage or supervise CS/admin overheads in collaboration with Operations leadership, and ensure a consistent, high-quality customer experience in the market.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years’ experience in the iGaming / gambling industry, preferably within African markets
• 5+ years in a business development, commercial, country management, or iGaming leadership role
• Proven ability to operate independently with end-to-end ownership of a market or functional area
• Demonstrated commercial acumen, including negotiation and contract management experience
• Solid working knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance processes within regulated iGaming markets
• In-depth understanding of iGaming products and market-specific approaches to product positioning, promotion, and customer engagement
• Strategic and forward-thinking mindset, with the ability to identify emerging trends and drive market-specific innovation
• Fluency in English and at least one relevant local language for the territory
