  • • As a Credentialing Assistant at Washington University in St. Louis, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of our medical staff and managed care provider credentialing processes. This remote position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a leading academic medical institution, supporting the verification of credentials for physicians, allied health professionals, and managed care providers.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be the meticulous initial and continuous verification of credentials. This involves ensuring that all medical staff members and healthcare providers meet the stringent requirements set forth by state and federal licensure, The Joint Commission (JCAHO) standards, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), applicable hospital medical staff bylaws, and managed care provider contracts and agreements.
  • • You will be the custodian of critical data, responsible for maintaining the accuracy and currency of information within the system's credentials database. This includes generating essential reports, lists, and rosters to support various departments and facilities within the BJC Health System, ensuring that all stakeholders have access to reliable and up-to-date provider information.
  • • A key aspect of your role will be the diligent maintenance of permanent credentials files for all relevant medical staff, managed care, and allied health providers. These files must be kept in a constant state of readiness for audits and reviews by delegated entities, licensing bodies, and accrediting agencies, demanding a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • • You will contribute to the professional development of personnel within the Health Management Program (HMP) by participating in training sessions focused on credentialing verification issues. Sharing your expertise will help ensure a consistent and high standard of practice across the organization.
  • • Upholding the highest standards of confidentiality and data integrity will be paramount. You will be entrusted with sensitive information and must ensure that all aspects of the credentialing verification program and processes are handled with the utmost discretion and security.
  • • Beyond these core duties, you will be expected to perform other assigned tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the broader goals of the department and the university. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to supporting the operational needs of a complex healthcare system.
  • • The position operates within a standard 40-hour work week and is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from home. While the work environment is primarily an office setting, conducted typically while sitting at a desk or table using standard office equipment, the remote nature provides a significant work-life balance advantage.
  • • This role is crucial for maintaining compliance, ensuring patient safety, and supporting the operational efficiency of our healthcare services. By meticulously managing provider credentials, you directly contribute to the quality of care delivered by Washington University in St. Louis and its affiliated entities.
  • • You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to upholding the highest standards in healthcare administration, working within a respected academic and medical environment. Your contributions will be valued in ensuring that our providers are fully qualified and compliant, thereby reinforcing the trust placed in us by our patients and the community.
