📋 Description

• • Serve on Centerstone’s nationally recognized, 24/7/365 suicide-prevention hotline—featured in Time Magazine—where every call you take is a chance to save a life. You will be the calm, steady voice for individuals in their darkest moments, performing rapid clinical screenings, evidence-based risk assessments, and safety planning that immediately reduces harm.
• • Own the full crisis-care cycle: from the first ring through post-crisis follow-up. After each call you will complete concise documentation in the electronic record, schedule outreach calls to individuals seen by mobile-crisis teams, and confirm that safety plans are still in place—ensuring no one falls through the cracks.
• • Master telephonic de-escalation techniques, means-restriction counseling, and trauma-informed language. You will be trained to ask the hard questions—“Do you have access to lethal means?”—and to pivot instantly to collaborative problem-solving that empowers callers to choose life.
• • Build a dynamic resource map of Illinois mental-health, substance-use, housing, financial, and medical services so you can make warm hand-offs in real time. Whether the caller needs inpatient admission, outpatient therapy, or a peer-support group, you will secure the appointment, share contact details, and, when possible, stay on the line until the connection is made.
• • Champion quality and safety by participating in daily huddles, weekly case-consultation rounds, monthly accreditation reviews, and quarterly evidence-based training. Your feedback will directly refine protocols and improve outcomes across the entire crisis-care continuum.
• • Collaborate across departments—mobile crisis, outpatient clinics, inpatient hospital, and the military-services program—to coordinate seamless transitions. You will also liaise with local emergency departments, law-enforcement crisis-intervention teams, and community nonprofits to advocate for the caller’s best interests.
• • Contribute to a culture of respect, expertise, integrity, and empowerment. Through Employee Resource Groups and peer mentorship, you will both receive support and provide it, ensuring that our workforce stays as healthy as the people we serve.
• • Handle administrative tasks—data entry, outcome tracking, and incident-reporting—with the same precision you bring to clinical work. Accurate metrics drive grants, public-policy decisions, and ultimately more funding for life-saving services.
• • Work the night shift (8:00 pm–4:30 am) with Sunday–Monday off, a schedule designed to match the peak hours for crisis calls while giving you a true weekend later in the week. Remote or on-site flexibility may be available after orientation.
