  • • As a Critical Facilities Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the continuous and reliable operation of our state-of-the-art data center facilities in El Paso, TX. This is a hands-on position requiring a deep understanding of critical infrastructure systems and a proactive approach to maintenance and problem-solving.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be the proactive and reactive maintenance of all critical facility systems, including but not limited to, Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS), generators, switchgear, building automation systems (BAS), cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers), fire suppression systems, and security systems.
  • • You will perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance tasks, and emergency repairs to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance of all equipment, adhering strictly to T5’s rigorous operational standards and safety protocols.
  • • This role involves detailed record-keeping and documentation of all maintenance activities, equipment performance, and incident reports using our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Accurate and timely data entry is crucial for tracking asset health, planning future maintenance, and ensuring compliance.
  • • You will be an integral part of the on-call rotation, responding to critical facility alarms and emergencies outside of normal business hours, demonstrating your commitment to the 'Forever On!' ethos.
  • • Collaborate closely with the facilities management team, other technicians, and external vendors to troubleshoot complex issues, implement solutions, and ensure the overall integrity and efficiency of the data center.
  • • Participate in commissioning activities for new equipment and infrastructure upgrades, ensuring seamless integration and operational readiness.
  • • Monitor environmental conditions within the data center, such as temperature, humidity, and airflow, making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal operating parameters for sensitive IT equipment.
  • • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, company policies, and local codes, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the facility’s electrical and mechanical systems, including single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and operational manuals.
  • • Assist in managing inventory of spare parts and consumables for critical equipment, ensuring availability to prevent delays during maintenance or repair activities.

  • • Assist in the management and oversight of third-party contractors performing work within the critical areas of the facility.
  • • Ensure all work performed complies with T5’s stringent quality control measures and operational guidelines.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Proven experience as a Critical Facilities Technician or in a similar role maintaining complex mechanical and electrical systems within a data center or similar mission-critical environment.
  • • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including UPS systems, generators, switchgear, cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH, chillers), and building automation systems (BAS).
  • • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • • Experience with CMMS software for work order management and documentation.
  • • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergencies outside of normal business hours.
  • • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving issues.
  • • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with stakeholders.
  • • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or associate's degree in a relevant field (e.g., electrical, mechanical, HVAC) are highly desirable.
  • • Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations in a critical facility environment.
