At our 461 Century St location in Winnipeg, you will greet a constant stream of do-it-yourself movers—families starting new chapters, students heading to campus, entrepreneurs expanding their businesses—and you will be the person who turns their stressful day into a confident, successful journey.
• • Master every touchpoint of the customer experience. You will guide guests through the entire rental process: recommending the right truck or trailer size, explaining add-on services such as moving supplies and storage, and ensuring every customer leaves with the knowledge and equipment they need. Your product expertise and upbeat attitude will directly influence repeat business and five-star reviews.
• • Leverage cutting-edge, smartphone-based U-Scan technology to open contracts, scan driver’s licences, capture signatures, and close returns in minutes. You will become fluent in our mobile apps and point-of-sale systems, turning what used to be paperwork into a seamless digital flow that keeps lines short and customers smiling.
• • Own the yard like a pro. Safely move and position 10-foot to 26-foot trucks, auto-transports, and cargo trailers using precise backing and spotter communication. You will conduct pre-rental safety walks, check fluid levels, verify lights and brakes, and flag any mechanical issues for immediate repair so the next family rolls out with confidence.
• • Keep our fleet sparkling and road-ready. You will wash windshields, sweep cargo bays, top off fuel, and inflate tires to spec. When a unit returns muddy from a cross-country trek, you will transform it back into a showroom-quality vehicle before the next reservation. Your attention to detail prevents roadside breakdowns and protects our brand reputation.
• • Become a hands-on problem solver. Install trailer hitches and wire up brake-light connectors using torque wrenches and multimeters. Fill propane cylinders safely after earning your in-house certification. Operate a forklift to load and stage equipment. Every new skill you add makes you more valuable to the team and more helpful to the customer.
• • Educate and up-sell with integrity. When a customer asks about packing tips, you will demonstrate how a dish-saver kit prevents breakage. When they worry about towing, you will walk them through mirror extenders and sway-control devices. Your consultative approach boosts average transaction value while genuinely improving the customer’s move.
• • Champion safety and compliance. Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures, wear required PPE, and complete daily checklists that satisfy both provincial regulations and U-Haul’s rigorous standards. You will participate in monthly safety huddles and U-Haul University micro-learning modules that keep your certifications current and your knowledge sharp.
