Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Serve as the definitive authority on cyber security strategy and implementation for mission-critical defense programs, translating complex threat landscapes into actionable protection plans that safeguard national security assets and warfighter systems.
  • • Architect, design, and continuously evolve enterprise-grade security frameworks that integrate seamlessly with open, government-owned platforms, ensuring zero-trust principles are embedded from silicon to software across every layer of the technology stack.
  • • Lead cross-functional red-team/blue-team exercises, penetration testing campaigns, and adversary emulation activities that replicate real-world nation-state tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to validate the resilience of military networks, weapon systems, and command-and-control infrastructure.
  • • Translate battlefield requirements into security controls, working directly with operators, intelligence analysts, and acquisition professionals to prioritize risk mitigation efforts that directly impact operational readiness and force protection.
  • • Establish and maintain authoritative threat intelligence pipelines, fusing classified and open-source data to deliver real-time situational awareness dashboards that inform tactical decision-making at the speed of relevance.
  • • Mentor and upskill a distributed team of security engineers, analysts, and architects, cultivating a culture of continuous learning that keeps CTI at the forefront of emerging cyber technologies and methodologies.
  • • Drive the secure-by-design ethos across the full system development lifecycle, embedding security gates, automated testing, and compliance checkpoints that accelerate delivery without compromising integrity or confidentiality.
  • • Collaborate with government program offices, combatant commands, and coalition partners to harmonize security policies, share best practices, and ensure interoperability across joint and multinational operations.
  • • Author and maintain authoritative documentation, including security architecture blueprints, risk registers, incident response playbooks, and certification & accreditation (C&A) artifacts that withstand rigorous government audits and congressional oversight.
  • • Spearhead the adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as AI-driven anomaly detection, quantum-resistant cryptography, and zero-touch provisioning to future-proof defense systems against next-generation threats.
  • • Champion DevSecOps practices within agile development squads, integrating static/dynamic code analysis, container scanning, and infrastructure-as-code security templates to achieve continuous ATO (Authority to Operate) renewals.
  • • Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams and senior leadership, translating complex cyber risk into business impact narratives that secure funding, executive buy-in, and strategic alignment.
  • • Orchestrate incident response for high-severity breaches, coordinating with USCYBERCOM, DHS, and law enforcement to contain threats, preserve forensic evidence, and restore mission-critical capabilities within defined RTO/RPO thresholds.
  • • Influence the evolution of government security standards (NIST 800-53, CNSSI 1253, DoD 8500) by participating in working groups, pilot programs, and policy drafting committees that shape the future of defense cybersecurity.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with ability to obtain CI polygraph
  • • 8+ years of hands-on experience securing DoD or intelligence community systems, including at least 3 years in an enterprise security architecture role
  • • Expert-level certifications: CISSP, SABSA, or GIAC GSE (nice-to-have: CCSP, CISM, or CSSLP)
  • • Proven track record authoring and defending RMF packages that achieved ATO on IL5/IL6 cloud environments
  • • Deep fluency in NIST 800-53 rev5 controls, CNSSI 1253 overlays, and DoD 8500.01 policy requirements

🏖️ Benefits

  • • 100% remote-first culture with quarterly in-person summits at choice locations
  • • Annual $5,000 professional development stipend plus paid time for conferences and certifications
  • • Comprehensive platinum-tier health, dental, and vision coverage with zero employee premium
  • • 25 days PTO plus 11 federal holidays and a 4-week paid sabbatical every 5 years
