Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end design lifecycle for hyperscale and enterprise data-center projects across the United States, translating complex owner requirements into fully-coordinated construction documents that can be executed flawlessly in the field.
- • Lead multi-disciplinary teams of architects, MEP engineers, structural engineers, civil engineers, security consultants, and sustainability specialists—coordinating their work through BIM 360, Revit, and Navisworks to deliver clash-free, permit-ready drawings on aggressive fast-track schedules.
- • Serve as the single point of accountability for design quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance on projects ranging from 5 MW edge facilities to 100 MW+ campus builds; present weekly design-status dashboards to C-suite stakeholders and external investors.
- • Drive value engineering sessions that balance CAPEX reduction with long-term OPEX efficiency, leveraging your deep knowledge of containment strategies, liquid-cooling architectures, hyperscale electrical topologies (N, N+1, 2N), and low-PUE mechanical systems.
- • Establish and enforce design standards that comply with ANSI/TIA-942-B Rated-3/4 requirements, NFPA 75/76 fire codes, ASHRAE thermal guidelines, and local AHJ amendments; maintain a living library of master specifications and CAD/BIM families that accelerate future projects.
- • Interface directly with utility providers, fiber carriers, and equipment OEMs (Schneider, Vertiv, STULZ, Cummins) to validate incoming service capacities, generator footprints, UPS sizing, and rack-level power densities up to 50 kW/rack.
- • Champion sustainability initiatives—modeling carbon footprints, procuring renewable energy certificates, and integrating LEED, BREEAM, or ENERGY STAR pathways into the design narrative to meet corporate ESG goals.
- • Implement rigorous design QA/QC workflows: red-line reviews, 3D coordination meetings, constructability walk-throughs, and independent peer reviews that reduce RFI counts by 30 % and field rework by 25 %.
- • Mentor junior designers and recent graduates through structured training modules on data-center best practices, code navigation, and advanced Revit family creation, building an internal pipeline of technical talent.
- • Leverage remote-collaboration tools (MS Teams, Miro, Lucidchart, Procore) to orchestrate design workshops with stakeholders in multiple time zones, ensuring seamless hand-offs between U.S. and Middle-East offices.
- • Contribute to Decima International’s continuous-improvement culture by capturing lessons learned, populating a knowledge base in Confluence, and presenting case studies at quarterly internal symposia.
- • Travel up to 25 % for site investigations, design-assist charrettes, and commissioning oversight—visiting greenfield sites, brownfield retrofits, and modular-factory assembly lines to ensure design intent is preserved.
- • Negotiate and manage A/E sub-consultant contracts, SOWs, and fee structures, ensuring deliverables align with master schedules and that any scope creep is documented and mitigated through formal change-management protocols.
- • Collaborate with Decima’s project-controls group to integrate 4D/5D BIM schedules and cost-loaded models, enabling real-time Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting for executive leadership.
- • Stay ahead of emerging technologies—immersion cooling, hydrogen-ready generators, AI-driven CFD optimization—and pilot their adoption on select projects to maintain Decima’s reputation as an innovation leader.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of mission-critical design experience on data-center projects ≥ 5 MW, with at least two full lifecycle builds from concept through commissioning.
- • Professional registration as a P.E., R.A., or PMP (or international equivalent) in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- • Expert proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, and BIM 360; familiarity with CFD packages (6Sigma, ANSYS) is a strong plus.
- • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-office, multi-discipline teams in a remote-first environment, with clear evidence of schedule and budget adherence.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly in-person summits in tech-forward cities (Austin, Seattle, Dubai) and a $2,000 annual stipend for your ideal home-office setup.
- • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and mental-health coverage for you and dependents, with 100 % of premiums covered by Decima International.
- • 20 days PTO plus 10 paid holidays and a one-time 4-week sabbatical after every four years of service—no blackout periods.
- • Annual professional-development budget of $5,000 for certifications (LEED AP, CDCDP, PMP), conferences, or advanced software training.
