- • Own end-to-end data architecture for critical business systems, designing flexible and scalable data models that serve product, engineering, finance, and customer success teams.
- • Build and maintain resilient data pipelines from ingestion through transformation, ensuring automated, reliable, and observable data flows across the organization.
- • Automate manual data handoffs by partnering with business systems and platform teams to eliminate inefficiencies and enable self-serve analytics.
- • Enforce data quality at scale by implementing comprehensive testing, monitoring, and reconciliation systems that make anomalies actionable and datasets trustworthy.
- • Design and maintain scalable analytics infrastructure, including semantic layers, APIs, and real-time query systems to empower data-driven decision-making across departments.
- • Collaborate directly with product, engineering, and analytics teams to translate ambiguous business requirements into clean, production-grade data solutions.
- • Operate and optimize cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift, including schema design, security, permissioning, and data governance.
- • Utilize modern data stack tools including dbt for transformation, Airflow for orchestration, and Looker or Metabase for BI to deliver actionable insights.
- • Write production-grade code in Python and SQL, integrating with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code workflows to ensure reliability and reproducibility.
- • Drive the adoption of data governance practices to ensure compliance, auditability, and consistent data definitions across the company.
- • Support machine learning and experimentation initiatives by providing high-quality, well-documented datasets and accessible data interfaces.
- • Take ownership of both technical design and operational outcomes, proactively identifying and solving data problems before they impact business outcomes.
- • Work in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment where agility and initiative are required to deliver impact on public systems serving vulnerable populations.
- • Contribute to a culture of clear, candid, and constructive communication while operating with freedom and responsibility.
- • Participate in hybrid work model requiring in-office or on-site presence at least four days per week in San Francisco.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience as a data or software engineer building data warehouses, pipelines, and distributed data systems
- • Deep hands-on expertise with modern data stack tools (dbt, Airflow, Looker, Metabase, etc.)
- • Proven experience operating cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift) including schema design, security, and governance
- • Production-grade proficiency in Python and SQL, with integration into CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code workflows
- • Ability to partner across engineering, product, and analytics teams to translate business needs into technical data solutions
- • Comfort working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment with high autonomy and minimal hierarchy
