- • Build and maintain robust dbt models in Snowflake to enable reliable, privacy-preserving analysis across Relay’s core financial data.
- • Design and scale the data infrastructure and tooling that supports tracking of key business KPIs and ensures teams have timely, accurate data for decision-making.
- • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to develop analytics and business intelligence systems that empower product, operations, and customer teams with actionable insights.
- • Ensure the data platform scales effectively as Relay grows, optimizing processes and systems to handle increasing data volume, velocity, and complexity.
- • Implement and enforce security and compliance best practices in collaboration with Trust, Security, and Governance teams to protect customer data.
- • Write production-grade Python code for data pipelines, automation, and transformation workflows that are clean, maintainable, and performant.
- • Use complex SQL beyond basic queries—leveraging window functions, query optimization, and advanced schema design to extract insights from large datasets.
- • Orchestrate data workflows using Dagster to ensure reliability, observability, and traceability across the data pipeline.
- • Integrate and support BI and data visualization tools such as Looker, Metabase, or Mode to deliver intuitive dashboards and reporting capabilities.
- • Extract meaningful patterns and value from complex, high-volume financial datasets with a strong curiosity for what the data reveals about customer behavior and business performance.
- • Work independently to drive projects forward while collaborating effectively with engineering, product, and business teams, knowing when to seek input and when to act autonomously.
- • Contribute to the evolution of Relay’s data ecosystem during a critical growth phase, shaping the foundation for future analytics and machine learning initiatives.
- • Maintain a strong focus on data quality, lineage, and governance to ensure trust in all reported metrics and analytical outputs.
- • Stay aligned with Relay’s mission of empowering small business owners by ensuring data systems directly support products and features that improve financial clarity and control.
🎯 Requirements
- • 2+ years of Data Engineering experience
- • Proficiency in SQL beyond basic queries, including complex window functions, query optimization, and schema design
- • Fluency in Python for writing clean, production-grade code
- • Hands-on experience with dbt, Dagster, Snowflake, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- • Experience with BI/data visualization tools (Looker, Metabase, Mode, etc.)
- • Proven ability to extract value from large, complex datasets and communicate insights effectively
