• • We are seeking a visionary individual who has excelled as a data scientist, analytics engineer, or data engineer, possessing a keen understanding of which metrics truly drive business value, the ability to design rigorous A/B tests that yield definitive answers, and the tenacity to dive deep into data models to uncover critical insights.
• • This role is for someone who recognizes the immense potential of building AI systems to fundamentally transform the practice of data science itself, moving beyond rudimentary tools like text-to-SQL bots or basic dashboards.
• • Your primary mission will be to develop sophisticated AI agents capable of conducting complete analyses autonomously. This includes formulating hypotheses, writing and executing complex queries, interpreting intricate results, and generating well-reasoned recommendations.
• • You will be instrumental in making our entire data warehouse AI-readable, establishing a semantic layer and retrieval infrastructure that enables any AI system, whether internal or product-facing, to query Perplexity's data with unparalleled accuracy and reliability.
• • A key responsibility will be the creation of self-healing data pipelines. These intelligent systems will proactively detect, diagnose, and resolve data quality issues before they impact users or downstream processes, ensuring data integrity and system robustness.
• • You will architect and build the foundational infrastructure that empowers our data team to operate at a significantly higher capacity, effectively multiplying their output and impact.
• • You will join a data team that is already embracing AI in its daily operations, but we believe there is a vast, untapped opportunity to push the boundaries further.
• • With strong buy-in from leadership, you will play a pivotal role in transforming our current AI initiatives into world-class, scalable systems, developing novel tools, and establishing an AI-native working methodology that not only elevates our team but also sets a new industry standard.
• • Accelerate the AI-native data workflow: You will take existing successful AI-driven processes and transform them into repeatable, scalable systems, robust tools, and standardized patterns that can be adopted across the entire data team and the company.
• • Build AI agents for end-to-end data science: Go beyond simple data retrieval to create agents that can explore data, formulate hypotheses, execute complex queries, interpret findings, and deliver actionable insights and recommendations.
• • Make the warehouse AI-readable: Develop the semantic layer, contextual understanding, and retrieval mechanisms necessary for AI systems to interact with and query Perplexity's data accurately and efficiently.
• • Automate the data lifecycle: Implement self-healing pipelines, automate the generation and validation of dbt models, and deploy data quality agents that autonomously detect, diagnose, and fix issues.
• • Ship AI-powered experiment analysis: Develop agents that can interpret A/B test results, identify statistical anomalies, and provide clear ship/no-ship recommendations to product teams.
• • Own the full lifecycle of AI-driven data solutions: From identifying high-impact problems and prototyping with LLMs to iterating on accuracy and user experience, and finally to production deployment and ongoing monitoring.
• • Transform the data team into a product team: Build internal data products that are actively used by stakeholders across the company, replacing ad-hoc requests with intuitive, self-serve AI interfaces.
• • Drive innovation in data infrastructure and tooling, ensuring our systems are scalable, reliable, and at the cutting edge of AI capabilities.
• • Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to integrate AI-driven data insights and capabilities into Perplexity's core product offerings.
• • Foster a culture of continuous learning and experimentation within the data team, encouraging the exploration of new AI techniques and technologies.
• • Contribute to the strategic vision of the data organization, shaping the future of how data is leveraged at Perplexity AI.
