đź“‹ Description
- • Shape the visual future of children’s publishing—remotely. As a Designer with Scholastic Inc.’s Tangerine Press imprint, you will own the full creative lifecycle of high-impact Nonfiction Books, Activity Kits, Stationery, and School Supplies that reach millions of kids through Scholastic Book Fairs and Book Clubs across North America.
- • Drive seasonal product lines from blank page to retail shelf. You will manage 10–15 concurrent projects per season, translating editorial briefs into irresistible kid-centric designs that balance trend-right aesthetics with rigorous safety and production standards.
- • Create print-ready mechanicals that meet exacting printer specs and templates. You will build complex multi-page books, die-cut packaging, and 3-D kit components in Adobe Creative Suite, ensuring color accuracy, font licensing, and structural integrity every step of the way.
- • Illustrate in 2-D and 3-D. Whether sketching whimsical icons for a dinosaur fact book or building dimensional mock-ups for a unicorn stationery case, you will visualize concepts that leap off the page and into kids’ hands.
- • Art-direct top-tier freelance talent. With guidance from the Associate Art Director, you will source, brief, and mentor external illustrators and designers, providing templates, feedback, and final pre-flight checks so every asset is pixel-perfect and on brand.
- • Own timelines and cross-functional communication. You will craft realistic design schedules, surface risks early, and participate in weekly production and staff meetings to keep editorial, safety, and production teams aligned on scope, budget, and delivery dates.
- • Translate macro trends into micro magic. Twice a year you will help craft the seasonal Trend Presentation—an internal “look book” that shows how emerging color palettes, graphic motifs, and material finishes can be applied to next-gen products.
- • Champion brand consistency. You will ensure every layout, icon, and package adheres to Scholastic’s visual identity system, while navigating image rights, font licensing, and safety regulations without stifling creative flair.
- • Shepherd files from pre-press to mass production. You will pre-flight digital assets, collaborate with offshore vendors, review press proofs, and troubleshoot last-minute color or structural issues so products ship on time and on budget.
- • Build the institutional memory. You will archive final files and maintain an organized, searchable repository that allows the team to reference past seasons and accelerate future development cycles.
- • Spark ideation. You will jump into editorial brainstorms and product pitch sessions, sketching quick thumbnails and pitching high-novelty concepts that could become the next breakout bestseller at Book Fair.
- • Thrive in a fully remote culture. From your home studio, you will collaborate via Slack, Zoom, Adobe Workfront, and shared cloud drives, proving that distance is no barrier to world-class creativity and execution.
