- • We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Part-Time Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Support Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for cloud-based virtual desktop solutions and a knack for problem-solving to contribute to the smooth operation of our AVD infrastructure. As a key member of our support team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, proactive support, and continuous optimization of our Azure Virtual Desktop environments.
- • This role is designed for flexibility, offering approximately 2-3 hours of work per day, on-demand, making it ideal for those seeking to leverage their expertise in a part-time capacity while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. You will be instrumental in ensuring a seamless and efficient virtual desktop experience for our end-users across the organization.
- • Your primary focus will be on providing expert Tier 2 and Tier 3 end-user support. This involves diagnosing and resolving a wide range of technical issues that may arise within the AVD environment, from connectivity problems and application malfunctions to performance bottlenecks and user profile discrepancies. You will act as a crucial point of escalation for complex issues that cannot be resolved by frontline support, requiring in-depth troubleshooting and a systematic approach to problem resolution.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves the meticulous maintenance and management of our golden images. This includes regular updates, security patching, application deployments, and configuration tuning to ensure that all virtual desktops are standardized, secure, and performant. You will be responsible for creating, testing, and deploying new image versions, ensuring minimal disruption to end-users.
- • You will also play a vital role in managing user profiles using FSLogix. This entails configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing FSLogix Profile Containers and Office Containers to ensure users have a consistent and reliable experience across different sessions and devices. This includes addressing profile corruption, performance issues, and ensuring proper storage management.
- • The position requires active participation in maintaining the health and efficiency of our AVD host pools. This includes monitoring auto-scaling configurations to ensure resources are available when needed and scaled down appropriately to manage costs. You will be responsible for tuning these settings based on usage patterns and business requirements.
- • Patching is another critical responsibility. You will be involved in planning, testing, and deploying operating system and application patches to the AVD session hosts, ensuring the environment remains secure and up-to-date against emerging threats.
- • Contributing to cost optimization efforts will be a key performance indicator. You will analyze AVD usage patterns, identify opportunities for cost savings through efficient resource allocation, right-sizing of VMs, and optimizing auto-scaling policies. Your insights will help us manage our Azure spend effectively.
- • While the primary focus is on support and maintenance, there will be opportunities to contribute to occasional environment builds and deployments. This could involve assisting in the setup of new AVD environments, configuring new host pools, or deploying new applications within the AVD infrastructure.
- • This role demands a strong understanding of Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, Office, and OneDrive, and how they perform within virtualized environments. You will be expected to troubleshoot issues related to these applications, ensuring seamless integration and user productivity.
- • You will utilize ServiceNow for all ticketing and incident management activities. This requires meticulous documentation of issues, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and proactive communication with stakeholders.
- • The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, capable of working independently and managing their time effectively in a remote setting. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with end-users, fellow IT team members, and management.

🎯 Requirements
- • Proven hands-on experience managing and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, including pooled multi-session and personal single-session host pools.
- • Solid understanding and experience with Microsoft 365 applications (Teams, Office, OneDrive) and their behavior within virtual desktop infrastructures.
- • Working knowledge of FSLogix Profile Container and Office Container configuration and troubleshooting.
- • Experience with operating system patching and image management (golden images) for virtual desktop environments.
- • Familiarity with Azure cost management and optimization principles.
