📋 Description

• Own and continuously improve every containerised application that keeps Tribe’s payments platform alive. You will be the go-to authority for our Kubernetes estate, turning raw clusters into a resilient, self-healing, cost-efficient backbone that processes millions of transactions without breaking a sweat.
• Build, version, and maintain battle-tested Helm charts that encapsulate every service’s deployment, configuration, and scaling logic. You will standardise patterns so that any squad can ship a new micro-service in minutes, not days, while still complying with security, compliance, and cost guardrails.
• Design and evolve GitLab CI/CD pipelines that are as flexible as they are bullet-proof. From pull-request to production, you will wire in automated tests, SAST/DAST security gates, semantic versioning, feature flags, blue-green and canary rollouts, rollback triggers, and human approvals—turning releases from stressful events into boring, predictable routines.
• Make observability a super-power for every engineer. Using Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana, and distributed tracing, you will craft dashboards and early-warning alerts that surface anomalies before customers notice. You will also mentor teams on how to read golden signals and turn logs, metrics, and traces into actionable decisions.
• Prototype and validate the next generation of infrastructure. Whether it’s experimenting with AWS Graviton instances, EKS add-ons, Karpenter for autoscaling, or chaos-engineering tools, you will run proof-of-concepts, document trade-offs, and lead production roll-outs that raise the bar for reliability and scalability.
• Document everything so tribal knowledge never walks out the door. You will write concise runbooks, architecture decision records, and “how we fixed it” post-mortems that turn on-call rotations from panic to procedure.
• Join incident response as a calm, decisive voice. When alerts fire at 3 a.m., you will triage, coordinate, and drive root-cause analysis that not only fixes the issue but prevents recurrence through code, config, or culture changes.
• Collaborate daily with developers, security, product, and finance to balance feature velocity, cost efficiency, and risk. You will translate business goals into technical requirements and proactively flag technical debt or scalability ceilings before they become blockers.
• Champion security by design. You will embed OWASP secure-coding guidelines, image scanning, secrets management, and network policies into every layer of the stack, ensuring that compliance audits feel like a formality, not a fire-drill.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous learning. You will host internal demos, brown-bag sessions, and guild meetings that spread best practices and keep Tribe at the cutting edge of cloud-native engineering.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years owning production-grade AWS environments, including VPC design, IAM, EKS, RDS, S3, Route 53, and cost optimisation
• Expert-level Kubernetes administration: cluster bootstrapping, RBAC, network policies, Helm, Kustomize, and cluster autoscaling
• Proven record designing GitLab CI/CD pipelines for polyglot micro-services with security gates, automated tests, and progressive delivery
• Strong Linux fundamentals, bash scripting, and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, load-balancing)
• Nice-to-have: MySQL at scale, PHP/Symfony, message brokers (RabbitMQ/Kafka), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CDK), and fluent English communication
