📋 Description

• Own the reliability, scalability, and security of Kiwi’s cloud backbone. You will design, deploy, and continuously improve the AWS infrastructure that powers millions of financial transactions, ensuring 99.9 % uptime while cutting infrastructure costs by double-digit percentages.
• Architect and maintain bullet-proof CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions (or Jenkins) that let backend, data, and product teams ship code to production multiple times per day with zero-downtime blue/green and canary releases.
• Manage and optimize AWS Lambda, ECS, VPC, and RDS resources under a strict Infrastructure-as-Code mindset using Terraform or CloudFormation. Every pull request you merge should be reproducible, auditable, and version-controlled.
• Supercharge our PostgreSQL and MySQL clusters: design optimal indexing strategies, tune autovacuum and buffer parameters, set up logical and physical replication, automate point-in-time recovery, and harden security with IAM roles, SSL/TLS, and encryption-at-rest.
• Containerize legacy services and orchestrate them on Amazon ECS and Kubernetes. You will define Helm charts, service meshes, and HPA/VPA policies so that traffic spikes are absorbed gracefully without manual intervention.
• Implement Cloudflare as the outermost layer of defense: configure WAF rules, rate-limiting, DDoS mitigation, and global CDN caching to shave seconds off page-load times and protect user data.
• Provide first-class support for front-end teams deploying on Vercel. You will set up preview deployments, environment-variable automation, and edge-function optimizations so that new features reach customers faster.
• Instrument everything with Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog. Build SLI/SLO dashboards, on-call runbooks, and automated alert fatigue reduction to keep MTTR under 15 minutes.
• Lead incident-response war rooms, perform blameless post-mortems, and turn every outage into a resilient architecture improvement. Your post-mortems will be read across the company as best-practice templates.
• Document tribal knowledge in Confluence, create architecture decision records (ADRs), and mentor junior engineers through pair programming and brown-bag sessions.
• Continuously scan for cost-saving opportunities—rightsizing EC2/RDS instances, leveraging Spot and Graviton, and negotiating reserved capacity—to free budget for innovation.
• Champion security best practices: enforce CIS benchmarks, rotate secrets automatically with AWS Secrets Manager, and run quarterly penetration-test remediations.
• Collaborate with data engineers to design near-real-time ETL pipelines that feed ML models without impacting OLTP performance.
• Influence product roadmaps by translating infrastructure constraints into clear business trade-offs, ensuring Kiwi can launch new markets without re-architecting from scratch.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years hands-on experience as a DevOps, Cloud, or Site Reliability Engineer in production AWS environments.
• Deep expertise in AWS core services: Lambda, ECS, VPC, RDS, IAM, and CloudWatch; ability to debug IAM policies and VPC flow logs blindfolded.
• Advanced PostgreSQL or MySQL tuning skills—query optimization, index design, replication, partitioning, backup/recovery, and security hardening.
• Proven track record building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or Jenkins, including automated testing, security scanning, and rollback strategies.
• Solid scripting and automation chops in Bash and Python; comfortable writing small CLIs and Lambdas to glue services together.
• Fluent English communication (written and verbal) to collaborate with globally distributed teams and write crystal-clear runbooks.
