Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • • As the Direct Bill Supervisor at One80 Intermediaries (operating under Risk Strategies), you will lead the Direct Bill team in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of commission processing and revenue management across Property & Casualty (P&C) and Life & Health (L&H) insurance lines. This role is critical to maintaining financial health, supporting broker and carrier relationships, and enabling seamless month-end close operations in a fast-paced, high-volume insurance accounting environment.
  • • You will manage a hybrid team of U.S.-based and offshore staff (including RSP and other partners), providing daily guidance, conducting one-on-one coaching sessions, identifying training needs, and fostering professional development to ensure consistent, high-quality direct bill processing. Your leadership will directly impact team morale, productivity, and operational resilience during peak periods.
  • • Acting as the primary escalation point, you will resolve complex direct bill issues involving carriers, brokers, branches, and internal stakeholders—coordinating with banking teams on cash receipts, ACH payments, and deposits while maintaining strong external relationships to prevent disruptions in revenue flow.
  • • You will own the health of the Direct Bill subledger, overseeing monthly reconciliations, validating balances against the General Ledger (GL), monitoring aged items, and ensuring all commission statements are received and resolved before month-end close. This includes auditing for process adherence and compiling financial data for leadership reporting and special projects.
  • • Driving continuous improvement, you will analyze inefficiencies, design and implement process enhancements (e.g., in Comulate, Epic, AMS360, BenefitPoint, Smartsheet), manage carrier/broker login credentials and producer codes, and collaborate with Accounting Integration, Business Ops, IT Ops, National Broker Ops, and Corporate Finance teams to support system transitions and workflow changes.
  • • You will develop and execute training plans for both onshore and offshore staff, cross-train team members across P&C and L&H lines to ensure coverage during absences or peak volumes, and define and track KPIs related to productivity, reconciliation timeliness, and accuracy—providing regular insights to leadership.
  • • The role demands resilience during high-pressure periods such as month-end, year-end, and audit cycles, with frequent overtime expected. Occasional travel may be required for training, meetings, or collaborative initiatives, offering opportunities to contribute to organizational growth and process standardization.
  • • You will join a nationally recognized, fast-growing insurance brokerage firm—Risk Strategies, the 9th largest privately held U.S. brokerage—where your work supports a culture of excellence, recognized by Great Place to WorkÂŽ certification (2023) and inclusion on the Inc. 5000 list. The company emphasizes ESG stewardship and offers a stable, values-driven environment for career advancement in insurance accounting and financial operations.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
  • • 5+ years of experience in insurance accounting, direct bill processing, or a closely related field
  • • Strong understanding of commission reconciliations, subledger management, and core accounting principles (GAAP)
  • • Proficiency in Comulate, Epic, AMS360, BenefitPoint, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams)
  • • Proven ability to manage U.S. and offshore teams, with prior experience strongly preferred
  • • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with carriers, brokers, branches, and internal stakeholders
  • • Strong attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, and time management skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple competing priorities

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive annual salary range of $65,000.00 to $85,000.00, based on experience and qualifications
  • • Opportunity to work remotely with a nationally recognized, high-growth insurance brokerage firm (Risk Strategies)
  • • Professional development through leadership, training, and process improvement initiatives
  • • Exposure to complex financial systems and cross-functional collaboration with Accounting, IT, Business Ops, and Corporate Finance teams
  • • Inclusive workplace culture committed to Equal Employment Opportunity and recognized as a Great Place to WorkÂŽ (2023)
  • • Clear path for impact and advancement in insurance accounting, financial operations, and team leadership within a stable, values-driven organization
