- • The Director, Business Development & State Engagement drives Cambium Assessment’s growth by strengthening relationships across state and district education systems and aligning assessment solutions with evolving education priorities, playing a critical role in expanding market opportunities and sustaining program success.
- • Day to day, the role involves cultivating relationships with state education agency and district leaders, analyzing state assessment contracts, collaborating on RFP strategies, monitoring legislative and technology policy developments, and partnering across internal teams to align offerings with state needs and support coordinated delivery.
- • Cambium Learning Group is an award-winning educational technology leader providing SaaS resources and instructional products through brands like Learning A-Z, ExploreLearning, Voyager Sopris Learning, and VKidz Learning, dedicated to helping all students reach their potential through individualized, research-based instruction.
- • In this role, the person can develop deep expertise in K–12 assessment policy and procurement, influence large-scale state education initiatives, build thought leadership in educational assessment and AI ethics, and advance their career through high-impact engagement with state leaders and national education organizations.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum 10+ years of experience in educational business development, government relations, or state education agencies, including at least 5 years focused on K–12 student assessment or EdTech
- • Demonstrated success influencing and supporting state-level education procurement for large-scale programs
- • Ability to communicate fluently about psychometrics, computer-adaptive testing (CAT), item development, program management, and ethical considerations of AI in education
- • Established relationships across state education agencies, assessment leaders, and national education organizations are highly preferred
- • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or JD highly preferred
- • Ability to travel 25–50% to support priority state engagements and industry conferences
