  • • Abridge AI is seeking a visionary Director, Life Sciences Business Development to spearhead the establishment and growth of our life sciences vertical. This is a pivotal, high-impact role with complete ownership, designed for an entrepreneurial leader who thrives in a 0-to-1 environment. You will be instrumental in shaping the product strategy, driving new product launches, forging strategic partnerships, closing significant deals, and ensuring customer success within the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device sectors.
  • • Reporting directly to the VP of New Verticals, you will operate as a key strategic player, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Strategic Finance. Your primary focus will be on identifying and capitalizing on high-value use cases, influencing the product roadmap to meet the unique needs of life sciences clients, and cultivating robust relationships with key stakeholders in these organizations.
  • • The ideal candidate possesses a profound understanding of the life sciences landscape, demonstrated through extensive experience working with pharmaceutical or biotech executives. This expertise must be coupled with sharp commercial acumen and a genuine desire to operate as a business owner, taking full accountability for outcomes. You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, possess a strong bias for action, and excel at rolling up your sleeves to achieve ambitious goals through cross-functional collaboration.
  • • Key responsibilities include defining the life sciences product vision and roadmap in close partnership with Product and Engineering teams. You will be tasked with identifying lucrative use cases across critical areas such as clinical trial support, medical affairs, and real-world evidence generation, translating these insights into concrete product requirements and measurable commercial objectives.
  • • A significant part of your role will involve building, managing, and closing a pipeline of global and regional life sciences accounts. This requires developing and executing a comprehensive customer relationship strategy, with a clear mandate to achieve and exceed life sciences revenue targets. You will be responsible for defining and tracking the key metrics that signify success in this rapidly evolving market.
  • • You will leverage Abridge's existing network of health system partners to uncover new life sciences opportunities and collaboratively develop compelling joint value propositions. Furthermore, you will lead the development of innovative pricing models and sophisticated ROI analyses for new products, continuously assessing Abridge's competitive positioning from initial customer engagement through to achieving early product-market fit.
  • • In the crucial phase of scaling towards early product-market fit, you will execute 0-to-1 product launches, ensuring seamless collaboration both internally and externally to facilitate smooth adoption. You will drive iterative improvements in pricing models, product experience, success metrics, and implementation strategies as new offerings gain traction.
  • • Strategic decision-making regarding build, buy, or partner opportunities will be a core function, undertaken in collaboration with Strategic Finance, to accelerate Abridge's capabilities and market penetration.
  • • You will also play a vital role in cross-functional leadership, partnering with Marketing to craft targeted life sciences positioning and content strategies, and working with Strategic Finance to construct business cases and ROI models that resonate with the financial realities of the life sciences industry.
  • • Externally, you will serve as a key representative of Abridge, engaging in executive-level conversations and presenting at industry events across the life sciences ecosystem.
  • • This role demands a proactive, results-oriented individual who can thrive in a dynamic startup environment, driving significant growth and establishing Abridge as a leader in AI-powered solutions for the life sciences sector.
  • • The position requires a hybrid work arrangement, with 3 days per week in our vibrant NYC SoHo office, and involves approximately 30% travel to engage with clients and partners globally.
