  • • The Director of Business Development at WLT Group Limited (Williams Lea) is a strategic leadership role focused on driving new business growth within the Legal Sector by identifying opportunities, building client relationships, and aligning solutions to market needs in a remote-first environment with regular London-based engagement.
  • • This role is critical to expanding Williams Lea’s footprint in investment banks, law firms, and professional services firms by developing and executing targeted growth strategies that generate new logos and long-term partnerships.
  • • Day to day, the Director will develop and implement a focused business development plan for the allocated market, including identifying new market opportunities, analysing competitive landscapes, and aligning strategies with organisational goals.
  • • They will build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, deeply understand evolving requirements, and design customized, saleable solutions that address pain points and foster long-term partnerships.
  • • The role involves proactive prospecting, lead generation, and networking within the legal sector to identify and pursue new business opportunities, including developing and delivering compelling presentations, proposals, and pitches to prospective clients.
  • • They will conduct ongoing market research and analysis, monitoring sector trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activity to identify growth areas and provide regular performance reports to senior management.
  • • Close collaboration with internal teams — including marketing, editorial, operations, and finance — is essential to align business development efforts, co-create sales collateral, ensure accurate pricing and budgeting, and streamline project delivery.
  • • The Director will monitor team and individual performance against targets, analyse sales metrics and revenue data, and recommend actionable improvements to optimise processes and drive sustainable revenue growth.

  • • In this role, the individual will develop deep expertise in legal sector dynamics, refine consultative selling skills, and gain experience in shaping enterprise-level solutions that combine people, process, and technology.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Proven experience selling solutions to the legal sector, with a track record of winning new business in law firms or professional services environments.
  • • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes for strategic decision-making.
  • • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with confidence engaging and influencing C-suite and senior stakeholders.
  • • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining long-term client relationships through trust, responsiveness, and solution-oriented engagement.
  • • Strong negotiation and contract management skills, capable of structuring complex deals that balance client value and organisational profitability.
  • • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic, remote-first environment with regular travel to London for client meetings.
