- • As Director of Enterprise Sales at Voltus, Inc., you will lead and scale a high-performing enterprise sales team responsible for driving revenue growth in the rapidly evolving distributed energy resources (DER) and demand response markets. This role is critical to Voltus’s mission of connecting distributed energy assets to wholesale electricity markets, enabling cleaner, more reliable, and lower-cost power solutions by optimizing existing infrastructure instead of waiting for new generation. You will be instrumental in expanding Voltus’s market presence by targeting large commercial, industrial, and institutional customers who can leverage DERs to reduce energy costs, participate in grid services, and meet sustainability goals.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing and executing enterprise sales strategies aligned with company objectives, managing and mentoring a team of Enterprise Sales Directors to exceed qualified booked meetings and revenue targets, conducting regular performance reviews, and providing coaching to improve sales effectiveness. You will own the full sales cycle for complex, multi-stakeholder deals—from initial outreach and discovery through negotiation, contract execution, and post-sale engagement—while collaborating closely with marketing, product, policy, and operations teams to refine value propositions and overcome market barriers. You will also forecast sales performance, analyze market trends, and report progress to the VP of Sales and executive leadership.
- • You will join a mission-driven, innovative team at Voltus that is at the forefront of the energy transition, combining deep expertise in energy markets, software technology, and regulatory policy to create virtual power plants that compete with traditional generation. The company operates with a remote-first culture, values data-informed decision-making, and fosters collaboration across functions to solve complex grid challenges. As a leader, you will help shape the sales organization’s structure, processes, and culture as Voltus scales into new markets and customer segments.
- • In this role, you will develop deep subject-matter expertise in demand response, grid services, and wholesale energy markets while honing your leadership and strategic sales capabilities. You will have the opportunity to influence go-to-market strategy, build a scalable sales engine, and directly contribute to decarbonization efforts by enabling more flexible, resilient, and sustainable energy systems. Success in this position can lead to broader leadership opportunities within Voltus as the company continues to grow its impact across North American electricity markets.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven track record of success in enterprise sales, including experience leading and scaling high-performing sales teams selling complex, technical solutions to large commercial, industrial, or institutional customers.
- • Demonstrated ability to manage full sales cycles for long-term, multi-year contracts involving multiple stakeholders, including procurement, legal, facilities, and sustainability teams.
- • Strong background in or deep understanding of the energy industry, particularly demand response, distributed energy resources (DERs), wholesale electricity markets, or related grid services.
- • Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills with a player/coach mindset—able to both drive individual performance and develop team capabilities.
- • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- • Based in the United States with willingness to travel as required; preference for candidates located in wholesale market territories (e.g., PJM, NYISO, NEISO, CAISO, MISO).
