We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director, Sourcing to join our dynamic and fast-paced team in Oakland, CA.
- • As the Director, Sourcing, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing the global sourcing strategies for our diverse and expanding portfolio of beauty brands. This pivotal role is responsible for leading and executing new product launches, driving post-development optimization, and developing robust supplier strategies across all e.l.f. Beauty brands. Your expertise will be crucial in managing global categories, ensuring cost optimization, mitigating supply chain risks, and fostering innovation through our supplier partnerships.
- • You will be tasked with developing and implementing comprehensive sourcing strategies that align with the company's aggressive growth objectives and commitment to delivering high-quality, clean, cruelty-free beauty products at exceptional value. This includes identifying, evaluating, and onboarding new suppliers, as well as managing and nurturing relationships with existing strategic partners to ensure a resilient and efficient supply chain.
- • A key aspect of this role involves driving significant cost optimization initiatives. You will analyze market trends, benchmark supplier performance, and negotiate favorable terms and pricing to achieve ambitious cost-saving targets without compromising on quality or ethical standards. This will involve deep dives into material costs, manufacturing processes, and logistics to identify opportunities for efficiency and savings.
- • Furthermore, you will be responsible for proactively managing and mitigating supply chain risks. This includes developing contingency plans, diversifying the supplier base, and staying abreast of geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors that could impact supply continuity. Your foresight and strategic planning will be essential in ensuring uninterrupted product availability for our consumers.
- • Innovation is at the core of e.l.f. Beauty's success. You will actively collaborate with R&D, Product Development, and Marketing teams to identify and integrate innovative materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes from our supplier network. This role will champion the exploration of new sourcing opportunities that can enhance product performance, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
- • Building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with key global suppliers and internal stakeholders across various functions (e.g., Product Development, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Quality Assurance) and global regions is paramount. You will act as the primary point of contact for strategic supplier interactions, fostering a partnership approach that encourages transparency, mutual growth, and shared success.
- • Success in this role requires a leader who can effectively challenge the status quo, push partners to operate at e.l.f. Beauty's rapid pace, and build scalable systems and processes that can adapt and grow as we expand into new categories, markets, and geographies.
- • You will lead and mentor a team of sourcing professionals, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and professional development. This includes setting clear objectives, providing regular feedback, and empowering your team to achieve their full potential.
- • The Director, Sourcing will oversee the entire sourcing lifecycle, from initial supplier identification and qualification through to contract negotiation, performance management, and ongoing relationship management. This includes developing and implementing best practices in sourcing, procurement, and supplier relationship management.
- • You will be responsible for developing and managing the sourcing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximizing return on investment. This includes forecasting needs, tracking expenditures, and reporting on financial performance related to sourcing activities.

🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a significant portion in the beauty, CPG, or related industries.
- • Proven track record of developing and executing successful global sourcing strategies, including experience with new product introductions, cost optimization, and risk mitigation.
- • Strong understanding of global supply chains, manufacturing processes, and material sourcing within the beauty or consumer goods sector.
- • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders at all levels.
- • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) are a plus.
