Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Design, specify, and integrate electrical subsystems for uncrewed surface vessels (USVs), including power converters, energy storage, RF and communications systems, signal distribution, harnesses, circuit protection, batteries, actuators, and antennas.
  • • Develop system-level electrical architectures for USVs, defining power trees, grounding schemes, communications pathways, and redundancy strategies to support mission payloads and maritime operational requirements.
  • • Evaluate electrical loads, routing, and environmental constraints to ensure system reliability in marine and high-rugged environments.
  • • Conduct bench-level and on-vehicle testing to verify RF performance, signal integrity, interference mitigation, and communication link reliability.
  • • Produce detailed wiring schematics, harness drawings, connector specifications, and interface control documents for electrical systems.
  • • Oversee the fabrication and assembly of wiring harnesses, ensuring quality, proper routing, strain relief, and compliance with marine-environment standards.
  • • Participate in subsystem bring-up, environmental validation, and vehicle-level integration, diagnosing failures related to power systems, EMI/EMC, communication links, sensor behavior, and embedded electronics.
  • • Support field testing and hands-on troubleshooting during sea trials, resolving real-time electrical and system-level issues.
  • • Collaborate with mechanical engineers on enclosure design, thermal management, EMC shielding, and component packaging to ensure integrated system robustness.
  • • Work with software and systems engineers to ensure electrical hardware interfaces are deterministic, well-documented, and functionally aligned with control and data systems.
  • • Generate and maintain electrical schematics, block diagrams, test reports, configuration records, and engineering change documentation.
  • • Contribute to design reviews and engineering change processes to ensure design integrity and traceability.
  • • Partner with manufacturing teams and technicians to ensure electrical designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and suited for marine or ruggedized production environments.
  • • Assist in developing test procedures, build instructions, and QA processes for electrical subsystems to support scalable production and field maintenance.
  • • Ensure all electrical systems meet stringent reliability and safety standards for defense and commercial maritime applications.
  • • Maintain compliance with industry best practices for electrical design in harsh environments, including grounding, shielding, and environmental hardening.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering focused on system design, integration, and testing.
  • • Strong background in power electronics, power conversion, and electrical subsystem integration.
  • • Experience with RF/comms systems, including antennas, radios, GPS, and digital communication links.
  • • Ability to create, read, and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness documentation.
  • • Hands-on experience with prototype builds, electrical assembly, test equipment, and troubleshooting.
  • • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
