• • PAR Technology Corporation, a distinguished leader in restaurant technology for over four decades, is seeking an accomplished and hands-on Engineering Manager to spearhead a high-performing, cross-functional development team within Punchh, a PAR company. This pivotal role is instrumental in architecting and delivering innovative cloud-based products while concurrently enhancing our core systems to align with our ambitious platform strategy. You will be at the forefront of shaping the future of restaurant technology, driving seamless guest experiences and fostering growth for over 100,000 restaurants across more than 110 countries.
• • As a key member of the Engineering Leadership Team, you will provide direct technical leadership on significant projects and critical product development initiatives. Your expertise will guide the team through complex technical challenges, ensuring the delivery of robust, scalable, and high-quality software solutions that embody PAR's 'Better Together' ethos. This includes Unified Customer Experience solutions, integrating point-of-sale, digital ordering, loyalty, and back-office software, alongside industry-leading hardware and drive-thru offerings.
• • A core responsibility will be to build, nurture, and lead an engineering team of 10-15 talented engineers. This involves not only managing day-to-day operations but also actively mentoring engineers, fostering their professional development, and driving their career growth. You will be instrumental in creating an environment where engineers can thrive, innovate, and reach their full potential.
• • While leading the team, you will also contribute to the codebase, especially during the scaling phases of new products and features. This hands-on approach ensures a deep understanding of the technical landscape and allows you to effectively guide architectural decisions and code quality standards.
• • You will be responsible for establishing and rigorously enforcing best practices for code quality, system design, and testing methodologies. This includes championing Test Driven Development (TDD) and ensuring adherence to established design patterns and data structures to build maintainable and efficient software.
• • Owning the services developed by your team is paramount. This encompasses embracing and implementing robust DevOps practices for deployment, monitoring, and operational excellence. You will maintain a critical balance between the rapid development of new features and the strategic management of technical debt, ensuring the long-term health and performance of our platform.
• • As an ambassador for the Punchh culture, you will play an active role in attracting and recruiting top engineering talent, contributing to the continued growth and success of the organization. Your passion for coaching and grooming future engineering leaders will be a significant asset.
• • You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Architecture, and other Tech Leads to define and refine product roadmaps, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with business objectives. This cross-functional collaboration is essential for delivering market-leading solutions.
• • The role requires a strong understanding of building scalable microservices, web services, and distributed systems, leveraging deep hands-on experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevOps principles, and NoSQL databases. Proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, C++, Golang, or Ruby on Rails is essential for contributing to the codebase and guiding technical direction.
• • You will be an integral part of the broader Engineering Leadership Team, contributing to strategic discussions and initiatives that shape the overall growth and direction of the engineering organization. This includes participating in the interview process, contributing to architectural reviews, and providing performance feedback to engineers.
