📋 Description

• Own the end-to-end delivery of Preql’s core product engineering team, managing 3-6 full-stack engineers while personally contributing ~50 % of your time to production TypeScript code, ensuring both velocity and technical excellence.
• Architect and evolve data-engineering pipelines that ingest, clean, and contextualize information from dozens of disparate customer systems—media companies, retailers, manufacturers—so that AI agents, BI dashboards, and copilots deliver trustworthy metrics on day one.
• Integrate modern AI codegen tools (Claude Code, Codex CLI, Aider, or similar) into daily team workflows, defining best practices that let engineers ship faster without sacrificing code quality, security, or auditability.
• Partner directly with the CTO and CEO to translate customer pain points into a quarterly roadmap, balancing green-field agentic features with hardening existing data-quality layers and SLAs.
• Build and refine hiring pipelines; within six months you may double the team size, so you’ll design interview loops, onboarding docs, and mentorship tracks that scale culture and craftsmanship.
• Champion spec- and test-driven development, instituting automated testing, continuous integration, and code-review rituals that keep a rapidly growing codebase predictable and joyful to work in.
• Contribute hands-on to the agentic data-cleaning engine—designing DAGs, writing transformation logic, and tuning LLM prompts—so finance teams can ask natural-language questions and receive numbers they trust.
• Establish systems of record (Jira, Notion, GitHub Projects) that give leadership real-time visibility into sprint health, technical debt, and customer impact while remaining lightweight for engineers.
• Collaborate with Customer Success to triage escalations, translating on-the-ground feedback into backlog items and ensuring every bug or feature request is traceable to revenue or retention.
• Evangelize AI-assisted engineering across the company: run internal workshops, publish playbooks, and mentor skeptical teammates until the entire org feels fluent with next-gen tooling.
• Uphold SOC 2 and audit-trail requirements by embedding compliance gates in CI/CD, data-retention policies, and role-based access controls—turning regulatory overhead into a competitive moat.
• Stay current with the agentic-AI ecosystem, experimenting with new LLM providers, vector stores, and prompt-engineering techniques, then rapidly de-risking and productizing the most promising ones.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of production software engineering with demonstrable data-engineering depth (ETL, streaming, or batch pipelines).
• Prior experience formally managing or tech-leading engineers (team lead, EM, or equivalent) with clear outcomes in velocity and quality.
• Hands-on use of CLI-forward AI codegen agents (Claude Code, Codex CLI, Aider, etc.) in real production workflows.
• Production fluency with public-cloud data services (AWS, Snowflake, BigQuery, or equivalent) and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Availability for core collaboration during US Eastern working hours.
• Nice-to-have: experience building analytics/BI platforms, agentic-AI systems, or Series A/B startup scaling.
