• • As an English to Portuguese (Brazil) Patent Translator/LQA Reviewer, your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass a range of essential tasks focused on the meticulous translation and quality assurance of patent-related content. You will be tasked with translating complex patent documents from English into native-level Portuguese (Brazil), ensuring that the nuances of legal and technical terminology are accurately conveyed. This will involve in-depth research into patent law, scientific principles, and industry-specific jargon to maintain the integrity and precision of the translated material. A significant part of your role will involve performing rigorous copy editing and linguistic quality assurance (LQA) reviews on translated patent texts. This includes identifying and correcting grammatical errors, stylistic inconsistencies, and terminological inaccuracies, as well as ensuring adherence to client-specific style guides and glossaries. You will also be responsible for verifying that the translated content fully captures the original meaning and intent of the patent, paying close attention to claims, specifications, and drawings. Collaboration with project managers and other linguists will be a key aspect of your work, providing feedback and contributing to the overall quality of the project. You will utilize specialized CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools, such as JIRA and XTM, to manage translation workflows, track progress, and ensure efficient delivery of high-quality localized content. Your ability to manage a substantial workload, with an expected weighted volume of over 5,000 words per week, will be crucial for meeting project deadlines and client expectations.
