  • • Lead the design, implementation, and governance of integrated total rewards strategies including base salary, bonuses, equity, recognition, and benefits to attract, reward, and retain top talent across the U.S. and Canada.
  • • Manage the end-to-end base salary program including budgeting, workforce planning, annual review cycles, job matching, salary range development and maintenance, pay transparency compliance, and promotion increase guidance.
  • • Provide expert coaching and guidance to HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to ensure consistent, accurate compensation advice is delivered to organizational leaders.
  • • Collaborate with Sales Management and Commercial HRBP to design and align incentive compensation plans for non-sales and sales employees, ensuring alignment with performance expectations.
  • • Coordinate with executive leadership and the Compensation Committee to design, evolve, and manage equity programs including stock options, full-value share plans, and potential future deferred compensation initiatives.
  • • Support the Executive Vice President, Human Resources in preparing and delivering materials for the Compensation Committee and Board of Directors, including proxy statement Compensation and Discussion Analysis.
  • • Lead the design, contracting, communication, and governance of U.S. benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), short- and long-term disability, accidental death & dismemberment, life insurance, and Employee Assistance Program.
  • • Oversee participation in U.S. and Canadian compensation surveys to ensure market competitiveness and benchmarking accuracy.
  • • Collaborate with HR Systems and Data teams to evaluate, recommend, and implement systems that streamline compensation and rewards processes in alignment with the company’s HR technology roadmap.
  • • Partner with HRBPs to evolve Xenon’s Career Framework, integrating compensation philosophy and program structures with career progression pathways.
  • • Develop and execute communication strategies to enhance employee and candidate understanding and appreciation of total rewards packages.
  • • Maintain current knowledge of life sciences compensation trends, governance standards, and regulatory requirements in the U.S. and Canada.
  • • Manage budget proposals and approved budgets for total rewards programs in alignment with company strategic and operating plans and Finance policies.
  • • Recruit, lead, develop, coach, and evaluate direct reports as the team grows in accordance with business needs and company HR policies.
  • • Ensure strict adherence to company policies including the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to compensation and benefits in both the U.S. and Canada.
  • • Contribute to annual operating plan and 5-year financial planning through accurate compensation forecasting.
  • • Champion Xenon’s evolving culture and values through the design and communication of total rewards programs.
  • • Support international travel as required for business operations and stakeholder engagement.
  • • Manage non-financial employee recognition programs in partnership with HRBPs and HR Operations.
  • • Work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and external compensation consultants to ensure accurate, compliant, and strategic execution of total rewards initiatives.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 15+ years of progressive compensation/HR management experience in public, multinational life sciences organizations
  • • Experience in both pre-commercial and commercial biopharma companies
  • • Demonstrated experience preparing materials for and interacting with Compensation Committees and Boards of Directors
  • • MBA strongly preferred; minimum of relevant undergraduate degree with coursework in math, accounting, finance, or law
  • • Deep hands-on expertise in compensation data, HR systems, and financial systems
  • • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business planning skills with ability to execute organizational-level strategies
