- • Support and train external customers, internal scientists, and partner organizations on Spear Bio’s SPEAR UltraDetect™ immunoassay technology and workflow through on-site visits, virtual sessions, and written materials.
- • Conduct in-person product demonstrations and workflow validations at customer sites across the U.S., primarily on the East Coast, to drive adoption of the SPEAR platform.
- • Perform client sample testing in the Woburn, MA lab to evaluate platform performance, generate quantitative data, and present results to clients to support purchasing decisions.
- • Troubleshoot complex technical issues related to immunoassay performance, instrumentation, and sample preparation, developing hypotheses, conducting experiments, and implementing solutions to ensure optimal system function.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new applications for current products, including generating technical data, writing application notes, and preparing conference presentations.
- • Serve as a technical liaison between customers and Product Management, providing direct voice-of-customer feedback to inform product improvements, feature development, and strategic roadmaps.
- • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitive immunoassay platforms, emerging biomarker research, and industry trends to position Spear Bio’s technology effectively in the market.
- • Manage customer inquiries, complaints, and success stories, documenting feedback to drive continuous improvement in product usability, support processes, and technical documentation.
- • Travel approximately 30–40% of the time to customer locations, including overnight stays and occasional international trips, to deliver on-site support and training.
- • Work hands-on in the Woburn, MA laboratory when not traveling, conducting assay development, validation experiments, and instrument maintenance to deepen technical expertise.
- • Build and leverage a strong professional network within RUO, pharmaceutical, and academic research communities to identify new opportunities and foster long-term customer relationships.
- • Communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and concisely through presentations, written reports, emails, and phone consultations, ensuring customers at all technical levels understand platform capabilities and limitations.
- • Independently implement new technologies and resolve instrument or assay performance issues with minimal supervision, demonstrating resourcefulness and scientific rigor.
- • Contribute to the growth of a high-growth biotech startup by playing a key role in commercial expansion and customer success during a critical phase of company development.
🎯 Requirements
- • PhD or MS in Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or Bioengineering
- • 2+ years of hands-on lab and troubleshooting experience with immunoassays and instrumentation for biomarker analysis; scientists developing 'omics' diagnostic assays also considered
- • 2+ years of direct customer-facing experience in pre- and post-sales roles as a Field Application Scientist, including demos, training, and complex technical troubleshooting
- • Demonstrated experience with qPCR and liquid handling machines
- • Strong network within RUO, pharma, and academic research communities
- • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time, including overnight and occasional international travel
