- • Lead the end-to-end preparation, review, and audit of annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and relevant regulatory standards, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for a globally licensed betting exchange.
- • Oversee monthly and annual financial close processes, including consolidation of group management accounts and delivery of board-ready management packs that explain key performance drivers and financial variances.
- • Manage day-to-day financial operations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to UK and Maltese financial regulations, including timely submission of VAT returns and payroll processing.
- • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax authorities, and other regulatory stakeholders, maintaining transparent and audit-ready documentation for all financial activities.
- • Architect and implement automated, scalable financial processes using AI-driven tools and new ERP systems, reducing manual effort while strengthening internal controls and compliance frameworks.
- • Prepare technical IFRS accounting papers and guidance for internal stakeholders and external auditors, translating complex accounting standards into actionable business insights.
- • Monitor financial performance against budget across all cost centres, delivering detailed variance analysis and strategic financial insights to support commercial decision-making.
- • Maintain balance sheet integrity by enforcing robust internal controls, identifying control gaps, and implementing remediation measures to meet regulatory and audit requirements.
- • Manage and mentor one direct report (Accounts Assistant), providing guidance, performance feedback, and development opportunities to build team capability and capacity.
- • Act as a business partner to non-finance teams, translating financial data into clear, accessible insights that inform operational and strategic planning across the organization.
- • Drive continuous improvement of finance systems by identifying inefficiencies, proposing automation solutions, and leading cross-functional initiatives to modernize finance workflows.
- • Collaborate with engineering, product, and compliance teams to ensure financial processes align with technology infrastructure, including data flows from trading platforms and customer transaction systems.
- • Ensure all financial reporting, controls, and disclosures meet the heightened scrutiny of a regulated gaming and betting environment operating under multiple international licenses.
- • Support the implementation of the company’s new ERP system, including requirements gathering, data migration, user testing, and change management to ensure seamless adoption.
- • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial compliance requirements in the UK, Malta, and other relevant jurisdictions.
- • Champion a culture of accuracy, accountability, and proactive problem-solving, ensuring financial operations remain scalable, transparent, and aligned with the company’s high-performance ethos.
🎯 Requirements
- • ACCA/ACA qualified with a degree in Accounting or related field
- • Proven hands-on experience preparing financial accounts compliant with IFRS and UK GAAP in a regulated industry (betting/gaming preferred)
- • Strong experience in a small finance team managing end-to-end financial close, reporting, and controls
- • Effective communicator able to convey complex financial data to finance and non-finance stakeholders
- • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and work closely with multidisciplinary teams
- • Good understanding of financial regulations in betting/gaming jurisdictions preferred
