đź“‹ Description
- • Own end-to-end financial planning and analysis for Zapier’s R&D organization, including forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis for headcount, cloud infrastructure (AWS), tooling, and AI-related expenditures.
- • Build and maintain detailed financial models that explain cloud infrastructure costs, key usage drivers, unit economics, and scaling behavior, partnering with Engineering and Infrastructure teams to enhance cost visibility and efficiency.
- • Analyze and track AI-related investments—both internal development costs and third-party vendor spend—assessing ROI, trade-offs, and long-term financial implications as AI adoption scales across products and internal operations.
- • Translate technical roadmaps from Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure into clear financial frameworks, enabling leadership to understand cost implications, prioritize initiatives, and make data-driven investment decisions.
- • Develop scalable, decision-ready financial models to support scenario planning, capacity planning, and long-term strategic decisions tied to product growth and technical architecture.
- • Prepare executive and board-level reporting materials that clearly communicate R&D financial performance, cloud and AI cost dynamics, and forward-looking strategic implications for company-wide planning.
- • Improve FP&A processes by automating reporting, enhancing data quality, and streamlining how R&D, cloud, and AI cost data flows into corporate financial systems.
- • Drive strategic insights by identifying trends, risks, and optimization opportunities in R&D spend, translating complex technical and financial data into actionable recommendations for leadership.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure leaders to align financial accountability with technical priorities and operational realities.
- • Contribute to broader corporate finance initiatives including competitive intelligence, strategic planning, and board preparation, while maintaining primary focus on R&D financial stewardship.
- • Actively experiment with and integrate AI tools into financial workflows—building automated analyses, improving forecasting accuracy, and enhancing decision support—while maintaining ownership of output quality and ethical application.
- • Maintain a high standard of detail orientation, organizational rigor, and process discipline in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with minimal oversight.
- • Question the status quo, seek creative solutions to financial challenges, and take initiative to own processes from scoping and modeling through execution and follow-through.
- • Use data-driven curiosity to analyze trends, uncover insights, and pursue truth in financial reporting, with experience writing SQL being a valued asset.
- • Operate with autonomy and accountability, delivering high-quality work through collaboration, coordination, and clear communication across distributed teams.
- • Apply AI tools daily as part of core financial operations, not occasionally, and be able to articulate specific workflows improved through AI integration, including impact on efficiency, quality, and decision-making.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4-6+ years of accounting/finance-specific experience with 2+ years working directly with R&D, engineering, or product teams
- • Proven experience building bottom-up and high-level financial models for technology organizations
- • Demonstrated ability to translate technical roadmaps (engineering, product, infrastructure) into financial implications and trade-offs
- • Experience managing cloud infrastructure costs (AWS) and modeling unit economics at scale
- • Active, daily use of AI tools in financial workflows with documented impact on efficiency or decision quality
- • Strong SQL skills preferred
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote work within North America time zones (Pacific Time - Eastern Time)
- • Opportunity to work with a globally distributed, empathetic team committed to diversity, inclusion, and equity
- • Transparent, non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity
- • Commitment to never leaving applicants without status updates for more than seven days
- • Access to Zapier’s remote work resources, code of conduct, and culture documentation
