📋 Description

  • • Credit Acceptance Corporation is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our dynamic Financial Operations team. As an award-winning company with a strong financial history and a commitment to fostering a world-class culture, we offer a unique opportunity to contribute to a stable and growing national leader in the used car finance industry. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with unclaimed property regulations across all 50 states, playing a vital part in the integrity of our financial reporting and operations.
  • • In this remote position, you will be instrumental in managing the company's unclaimed property (escheatment) lifecycle. This involves performing end-to-end activities, from identification and tracking to reporting and remittance, all while adhering strictly to applicable state laws, dormancy periods, and reporting requirements. Your expertise will ensure that Credit Acceptance remains compliant and operates with the highest standards of financial stewardship.
  • • A core responsibility will be the preparation, review, and timely filing of annual unclaimed property reports for every state. This includes managing electronic submissions and ensuring all remittances are processed accurately and on schedule. You will also be responsible for coordinating essential due diligence mailings and owner outreach efforts, meticulously following state-mandated timelines, notice requirements, and documentation standards to maintain transparency and compliance.
  • • You will be expected to research, interpret, and apply complex state unclaimed property regulations. This deep understanding will be critical for supporting accurate reporting and ensuring ongoing policy compliance, mitigating risks associated with escheatment.
  • • A significant aspect of the role involves reconciling unclaimed property balances to the general ledger. You will proactively investigate and resolve any discrepancies identified before the filing deadlines, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our financial records.
  • • Collaboration is key in this position. You will work closely with various internal departments, including Accounts Payable, Tax, Legal, and Sales teams. Your role will be to ensure the accurate identification, classification, and reporting of all escheatable items, fostering a cohesive and informed financial process across the organization.
  • • You will also be responsible for preparing and applying offsets, exemptions, and adjustments to escheatable items, ensuring these actions are in strict accordance with state regulations and company policies. This requires a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of the nuances of unclaimed property law.
  • • Maintaining comprehensive documentation, detailed reporting schedules, and robust audit trails is paramount. This documentation will serve to support our internal controls, facilitate regulatory compliance, and provide a clear record for any potential audits.
  • • You will act as a primary point of contact for state inquiries, audits, and information requests related to our unclaimed property filings and compliance matters. Your ability to provide clear, concise, and accurate information will be essential in these interactions.
  • • Beyond unclaimed property, this role will also involve completing monthly dealer vendor billing activities and responding to ad hoc financial requests from various teams, demonstrating versatility and a broad understanding of financial operations.
  • • We are looking for an individual who embodies positivity, professionalism, determination, and a calm, focused demeanor, especially when navigating challenging situations. The ability to demonstrate initiative by being proactive in work duties and making recommendations for improvement is highly valued.
  • • Strong organizational skills are essential to meet all deadlines consistently. You should be self-driven, motivated to help, and capable of performing with minimal supervision, showcasing a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.
  • • Excellent communication skills are required to convey complex financial information in a timely and easily understood manner across all levels of the organization. Furthermore, a receptiveness to ongoing feedback aimed at improving overall performance is crucial for professional growth within Credit Acceptance.
  • • This role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to the financial health and compliance of a leading company in the automotive finance sector, while working in a supportive and collaborative remote environment.
