- • Serve as a Financial Solutions Advisor (FSA) to guide learners through financial aid, military benefits, employer tuition reimbursement, and self-pay options to remove financial barriers to education.
- • Provide consultative support to learners on federal student aid eligibility, including Title IV programs, FAFSA applications, verification processes, and C-flag requirements.
- • Navigate and utilize FAA Access to CPS and NSLDS systems to verify financial aid status, loan histories, and disbursement timelines.
- • Advise learners on scholarship opportunities tied to FAFSA completion and communicate critical deadlines for aid disbursement, balance due dates, and UMGC’s disenrollment policy.
- • Educate learners on the R2T4 (Return to Title IV) process and its impact on outstanding balances and financial aid eligibility.
- • Collaborate with Success Coaches to align course scheduling with program applicability and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
- • Counsel active duty service members and veterans on the full range of military education benefits and guide them through benefit application and certification processes.
- • Assist learners in enrolling in and maintaining monthly payment plans, including processing payments over the phone while adhering to PCI compliance standards.
- • Evaluate learners’ eligibility for employer tuition reimbursement and identify partnerships with UMGC-affiliated employers offering tuition benefits.
- • Proactively resolve overdue account balances before escalation to internal or State of Maryland collections processes.
- • Maintain current knowledge of Title IV regulations, UMGC scholarship offerings, state policies, and institutional billing procedures.
- • Engage with learners through high-volume inbound and outbound calls, email, SMS, live chat, and case management systems in a call center environment.
- • Accurately document all learner interactions, progress, and financial solutions in the CRM system to ensure compliance and continuity of service.
- • Meet monthly departmental performance metrics related to call volume, resolution rates, and learner satisfaction.
- • Participate in recruitment and retention activities including virtual open houses, information sessions, and webinars to provide financial guidance to prospective and returning learners.
- • Work scheduled evening, weekend, and holiday hours as required by business needs.
- • Attend university commencement events if located within 50 miles of UMGC.
- • Ensure all remote work equipment meets UMGC’s technical requirements: broadband internet with minimum 25MBPS upload/download speeds, hardwired Ethernet connection, and use of UMGC VPN for secure data transmission.
- • Do not perform personal business during scheduled work hours except during designated breaks.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree and 2–3 years of relevant experience in financial aid, student finance, higher education admissions, or customer service.
- • Demonstrated expertise in federal student aid programs, FAFSA navigation, Title IV regulations, and NSLDS/FAA Access to CPS systems.
- • Strong customer service, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
