- • Manages daily operations and safety of fleet maintenance and repair associates within the company shop.
- • Oversees scheduling of truck maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance programs, and non-scheduled repairs including troubleshooting, rebuilds, and overhauls.
- • Administers proper selection, purchase, and utilization of Company assets to support fleet maintenance activities.
- • Controls labor hours and consumable supplies within approved budget parameters.
- • Develops and administers the fleet services budget, including review of prior year income/expenses and management of parts, tools, and office supply purchases.
- • Oversees parts inventory management and issues purchase orders based on anticipated maintenance needs.
- • Ensures accurate completion of all required documentation including work orders, breakdown logs, preventative maintenance records, pre/post-trip inspections, and certifications.
- • Conducts daily audits to verify proper installation of parts and minimize potential loss or non-compliance.
- • Inspects and ensures compliance with contracts and services provided by third-party vendors.
- • Maintains proper licensing of all fleet vehicles and ensures annual vehicle and trailer inspections are completed.
- • Stays current with technical manuals, literature, and industry advancements related to company-owned vehicles.
- • Coordinates with the Safety department to conduct associate observations, accident investigations, safety inspections, and training updates.
- • Executes staff management functions including selection, development, performance reviews, discipline, and terminations.
- • Interprets, trains, and consistently enforces Company policies and procedures across the fleet maintenance department.
- • Maintains open communication with associates through regular meetings, answering questions, and explaining policies.
- • Monitors associate morale and submits ideas to improve engagement and enablement.
- • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies including OSHA, DOT, and EFC.
- • Maintains up-to-date re-certifications for commercial equipment and Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) where applicable.
- • Performs duties of supervised associates as needed and completes other related tasks as required.
- • Uses spreadsheet and word processing software; learns and applies Sysco technology systems and programs.
- • Applies knowledge of vehicle operations, safety guidelines, and repair methods using all shop tools, power tools, jacks, hydraulic lifts, air tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- • Works non-traditional hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as required.
- • May occasionally travel to other operating companies or corporate offices for training or business needs.
- • Operates in environments with exposure to wet, hot, cold, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and high or precarious places.
- • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- • Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- • Demonstrates ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- • Writes reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; presents information to managers, clients, and the public.
- • Solves practical problems with limited standardization; interprets instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- • Applies policies consistently, objectively, and in a timely manner.
- • Works constructively with peers and associates across departments and shifts.
