Artisan is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join our rapidly growing team. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of AI innovation, working directly with our most strategic customers to ensure they achieve maximum value from our revolutionary AI employees. As an FDE, you will be the critical link between Artisan's technology and our clients' operational success, acting as a blend of engineer, consultant, and trusted advisor.
• At Artisan, we are not building simple chatbots or copilots; we are creating autonomous digital workers that perform actual jobs. Our flagship product, Ava, is an AI Business Development Representative (BDR) that has been adopted by hundreds of companies. Ava excels at researching leads, crafting personalized emails in a customer's unique voice, executing multi-step outbound sequences, managing her own deliverability infrastructure, continuously self-optimizing, and expertly handling objections to book meetings. She is not merely a tool; she is a valuable teammate. We are a Y Combinator W24 company, have secured $35 million in funding from prominent investors including Y Combinator, and have achieved an impressive $8 million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR). Currently, we are in the process of developing Ava 2.0, a significant advancement that will redefine the capabilities of AI employees. The engineering challenges are substantial, and the scope of work is vast, making this an exciting and demanding role.
• In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in understanding and integrating Ava into each customer's unique Go-To-Market (GTM) technology stack. This involves meticulously scoping how Ava fits within their existing systems, identifying what needs to be replaced, what requires integration, and defining the ideal workflow for seamless operation. You will be responsible for engineering customer-specific features and integrations, leveraging our robust TypeScript full-stack codebase. This hands-on development work ensures that Ava is perfectly tailored to meet the distinct requirements of each client.
• Beyond development, you will manage the end-to-end implementation process, working in close partnership with our Customer Success Managers (CSMs) to drive user adoption and ensure a smooth onboarding experience. Your ability to translate technical solutions into tangible business benefits will be key to customer satisfaction and retention. You will also play a crucial role in pre-sales activities, joining sales calls to provide essential technical credibility and assist in closing complex deals. Your deep understanding of the product and its potential applications will be invaluable in demonstrating its ROI to prospective clients.
• Throughout the entire customer lifecycle, from initial engagement through expansion phases, you will remain hands-on, continuously monitoring performance, identifying opportunities for optimization, and ensuring that customers are realizing real, measurable Return on Investment (ROI). This proactive approach guarantees that our clients are always deriving maximum value from their investment in Ava.
• A critical aspect of your role will be to act as the voice of the customer within Artisan. You will diligently gather and synthesize customer insights, feeding this valuable feedback directly back to our Product and Engineering teams. This ensures that our product roadmap is continuously shaped by the real-world needs and experiences of our users, driving innovation and alignment with market demands.
• This role requires a proactive, self-starter mentality, comfortable navigating ambiguity and architecting solutions in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to thrive on challenges, take initiative, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences will be paramount. You will also be expected to travel frequently, up to 50% of the time, to meet with customers at their offices for in-person discovery sessions, scoping meetings, and onboarding workshops, fostering strong relationships and ensuring project success.
• The FDE function is a new and vital addition to Artisan, directly overseen by our CEO, Jaspar Carmichael-Jack, reflecting the strategic importance of this role in our customer engagement strategy. You will be joining a dynamic and ambitious team, contributing to the growth of a company that is fundamentally changing how businesses operate through AI.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Forward Deployed Solutions Engineer, Field Engineer, or Full-Stack Engineer role.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript across the full stack, including experience with Node.js, React, or similar frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical conversations with RevOps leaders, sales teams, and other stakeholders.
• Experience integrating with common CRM, marketing automation, and sales technology platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach).
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently (up to 50%) to customer sites.
