📋 Description

• As a Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineer at Sierra Technologies, you will be a founding member of a critical function responsible for owning the end-to-end lifecycle of customer deployments of Sierra’s AI platform across enterprise environments, ensuring security, compliance, and operational excellence while shaping scalable deployment standards.
• Day to day, you will design and implement deployment architectures (including VPC configuration, permissioning, networking, and infrastructure provisioning), manage full infrastructure lifecycles for critical customers (deployment, upgrades, scaling, incident support), develop deployment runbooks and automation tooling, partner with engineering to ensure platform deployability, collaborate with customer platform/security/DevOps teams on constraints and compliance, and work with Sales and Customer Success to scope infrastructure needs during pre-sales and onboarding.

• In this role, you will define how Sierra scales its most complex customer engagements, gain deep expertise in enterprise AI infrastructure deployment, shape repeatable deployment processes and tooling, work cross-functionally with engineering, product, sales, and customer success teams, and develop advanced skills in cloud networking, infrastructure automation, and enterprise stakeholder management while contributing to a mission-driven culture focused on trustworthy AI.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, or solutions architecture roles with significant time spent on customer-facing deployment work
• Deep experience with AWS services, Terraform, container orchestration, and cloud networking (VPCs, IAM, DNS, load balancing)
• Track record of managing deployments in customer-owned cloud environments, including navigating security reviews, compliance requirements, and change management processes
• Ability to navigate ambiguity with enterprise stakeholders (platform engineers to CISOs) and turn infrastructure conversations into actionable deployment plans
• Strong operational instincts: thinking about upgrades, rollbacks, monitoring, and failure modes from the start
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment and collaborating across engineering, product, and go-to-market teams
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Excellent English and Japanese speaking and writing communication
