Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Forward Deployed Research Engineer (FDRE) at Poolside AI, you will be embedded directly with enterprise customers to design, build, and deploy agentic AI systems that solve real-world, high-impact problems in software development workflows. This role sits at the critical intersection of frontier AI research, applied engineering, and customer-facing product delivery, where your work directly influences both customer outcomes and the evolution of Poolside’s core models and platforms.
- • Day to day, you will own end-to-end technical missions in customer environments—clarifying ambiguous business and operational goals, shaping solution plans, and making decisive calls to ship systems that move measurable metrics. You’ll partner closely with customer operators and executives to translate pain points into production-ready AI agent systems, while collaborating with internal AI R&D teams to refine prompts, tools, and model behaviors based on field signals and performance data.
- • You will build and operate scalable backend services, distributed systems, and data pipelines using modern cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines, while ensuring security, compliance, and seamless integration with legacy enterprise systems. Your work will involve designing and evaluating multi-agent systems, long-running fault-tolerant agents, guardrails, and evaluation frameworks that turn hazy problems into structured experiments.
- • You’ll join a tight-knit, high-bar team of engineers and researchers from elite organizations like DeepMind, Palantir, and GitHub, where low ego, high agency, and a bias for action define the culture. The team operates with startup-like agility but is backed by the resources and rigor of an established organization focused on solving problems that few others can tackle.
- • In this role, you will accelerate your expertise in agentic AI, MLOps, enterprise AI deployment, and product-driven engineering—gaining rare, hands-on experience shaping how frontier models are applied in real-world settings. You’ll have the opportunity to turn field wins into reusable playbooks, internal tools, and platform improvements that create a flywheel effect, making every subsequent deployment faster, more reliable, and more impactful.
🎯 Requirements
- • Exceptional high-agency, low-ego mindset with a bias to action, strong collaboration skills, and motivation driven by impact and outcomes rather than pedigree.
- • Proven ability to learn new domains quickly, ask sharp questions, and thrive in ambiguous environments while maintaining product-minded thinking to translate field pain into clean abstractions, tools, and documentation.
- • Strong foundation in software engineering principles including backend services, distributed systems, data/feature pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker, IaC, observability, CI/CD), with experience or deep interest in agentic/LLM systems, model ops, and enterprise delivery concerns like security and data governance.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote work with flexible hours, enabling you to work from anywhere in the US East Coast while maintaining collaboration and rhythm with the team.
- • Generous time off with 37 days per year of vacation and holidays, supporting sustained high performance and well-being.
- • Comprehensive health insurance allowance for you and your dependents, plus company-provided equipment and additional allowances for well-being, continuous learning, and home office setup.
