- • As a Forward Deployed Research Engineer (FDRE) at Poolside AI, you will be embedded directly with security-conscious enterprise customers to design, build, and deploy agentic AI systems that solve real-world, high-impact problems—bridging cutting-edge research with practical deployment in environments where reliability, security, and performance are non-negotiable.
- • You will own the full lifecycle of customer-facing AI systems: from understanding operator and executive needs, to scoping impactful use cases, collaborating with AI research teams to refine models and tools, and shipping production-grade solutions that move measurable business metrics—all while operating with startup-like agility within a well-supported, mission-driven organization.
- • You’ll join a elite, low-ego, high-bar team of engineers and researchers from DeepMind, Palantir, GitHub, and other top-tier organizations, where craft, rigor, and impact are paramount, and you’ll work side-by-side with peers who treat hard problems as opportunities to learn and innovate.
- • In this role, you’ll gain unparalleled exposure to frontier AI R&D, develop deep expertise in agentic systems and enterprise AI deployment, and directly influence the evolution of Poolside’s models and platform by feeding real-world signals back into research—accelerating both your technical growth and the company’s trajectory toward AGI.
- • You will turn field experiences into reusable playbooks, tools, and libraries that create a flywheel effect—making each subsequent deployment faster, more reliable, and more powerful than the last—while building systems that integrate with legacy infrastructure, adhere to strict security and compliance standards, and operate at scale in complex environments.
🎯 Requirements
- • US security clearance (required for this role)
- • Exceptional high-agency, low-ego mindset with a bias to action, strong collaboration skills, and motivation driven by impact and outcomes
- • Proven ability to learn new domains quickly, ask sharp questions, and thrive in ambiguous, complex environments
- • Strong software engineering background with experience in backend systems, distributed systems, data pipelines, or cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, observability)
- • Experience or deep interest in agentic/LLM systems, including multi-agent design, tooling, prompt engineering, evaluation, guardrails, or model ops (fine-tuning, RL, inference management)
- • Product-minded thinking: ability to translate customer pain into clean abstractions, documentation, and tools that others can adopt and scale
