📋 Description

• As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer at Promise Holdings, Inc., you will serve as the critical technical bridge between our innovative government technology platform and real-world utility and agency partners, directly enabling life-changing impact for low-income families by ensuring our software delivers reliable, scalable solutions in complex public sector environments.
• You will work on the front lines of deployment, integrating Promise’s payment and relief products into legacy utility and government systems, troubleshooting in live customer environments, and translating field insights into product improvements—turning technical challenges into tangible outcomes like faster SNAP approvals and expanded energy aid distribution.
• You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, design, delivery, and sales teams to refine our platform based on firsthand customer feedback, occasionally traveling on-site to ensure seamless implementation and strengthen long-term partnerships with mission-driven public institutions.
• Promise is a mission-driven, venture-backed GovTech leader recognized by Fast Company and Forbes, building technology that modernizes how government agencies support vulnerable populations—backed by over $50M from top investors and led by experts from Palantir, Google, Stripe, and public service.
• In this role, you’ll grow your ability to solve ambiguous, high-stakes problems with empathy and technical rigor, deepen your expertise in full-stack development and enterprise integration, and become a trusted advisor who shapes both product direction and public impact through direct customer engagement.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building and deploying production software in complex, adaptive environments
• Proven experience in a customer-facing technical role balancing empathy with technical rigor
• Willingness to learn and work with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, SQL, and ETL tools—expertise not required, but curiosity and adaptability essential
