📋 Description

  • As the FP&A Manager at Handshake, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of a rapidly scaling company within the dynamic AI economy. This position is crucial for enabling data-driven decision-making across key G&A functions, including Legal, People, and Finance. You will be instrumental in building robust financial infrastructure from the ground up, providing strategic financial partnership to leadership and ensuring accountability for operational expenditures. Your work will directly influence executive-level strategies and contribute significantly to Handshake's continued hyper-growth, impacting millions of knowledge workers, thousands of educational institutions, and a vast network of employers.
  • In this high-impact role, your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass owning the comprehensive headcount and operating expense (opex) forecasting for all G&A cost centers. This involves meticulous planning and ongoing management to drive budget accountability among the leaders of the Legal, People, and Finance departments. You will be the primary driver of monthly variance analysis, conducting in-depth reviews to identify and surface actionable insights. These insights will be critical in sharpening G&A spend decisions, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently as the company expands.
  • A core part of your function will be to build and refine sophisticated driver-based operating models. These models are essential for enhancing forecast accuracy and will serve as the foundation for both annual strategic planning and quarterly reforecasts. This requires a deep understanding of business drivers and the ability to translate them into financial projections. You will also collaborate closely with the Accounting team to ensure a seamless and accurate month-end close process. This partnership is vital for the timely and precise reporting of all G&A financial data, maintaining the integrity of financial statements.
  • Furthermore, you will proactively partner with business leaders across G&A functions. This involves translating complex financial data and analyses into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations that empower them to make confident decisions. 🎯 Requirements

  • 4+ years of FP&A, strategic finance, or corporate finance experience, preferably in a SaaS environment.
  • Strong Excel modeling skills, including proficiency in building headcount, opex, and variance analysis models.
  • Solid understanding of SaaS KPIs, GAAP fundamentals, and P&L structure.
  • Experience owning a full forecast cycle, from model construction to stakeholder presentation.
  • Proven track record of improving forecast accuracy and establishing repeatable financial processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with business leaders and translate complex data into clear recommendations.
  • Capacity to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
  • Bonus: Big 4 public accounting or investment banking background.
  • Bonus: Experience supporting G&A functions (HR/People, Legal, Finance).
  • Bonus: Familiarity with Salesforce, NetSuite, Adaptive, or similar FP&A tools.
