Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the user interface of the Firefox Profiler, the open-source performance analysis tool trusted daily by thousands of Mozilla engineers and external web developers to diagnose everything from jank in animations to memory leaks in complex web apps.
- • Architect and implement interactive, data-dense visualizations—flame graphs, stack charts, marker timelines—that render smoothly even when handling multi-gigabyte performance profiles captured from real-world browsing sessions.
- • Push the boundaries of browser performance by optimizing how we stream, parse, and display millions of profiling samples entirely on the client side, leveraging Web Workers, WebAssembly, and cutting-edge browser APIs.
- • Collaborate closely with systems engineers who instrument the Gecko engine, browser developers who need actionable insights, and UX researchers who validate that our tools truly accelerate debugging workflows.
- • Drive accessibility and internationalization forward so that every engineer—regardless of device, bandwidth, or language—can analyze performance data without friction.
- • Contribute to the open-source codebase on GitHub, reviewing pull requests, writing technical design docs, and engaging with a global community of contributors who rely on the profiler to make the web faster for everyone.
- • Champion user-centered design by running usability studies, instrumenting telemetry to measure feature adoption, and iterating rapidly based on feedback from internal teams and external partners.
- • Mentor junior engineers and interns through pair programming, design discussions, and career development plans, fostering an inclusive culture where diverse perspectives lead to better software.
- • Influence the product roadmap by synthesizing user pain points, performance metrics, and strategic goals into concrete quarterly OKRs that balance innovation with maintainability.
- • Ensure rock-solid reliability by writing comprehensive unit, integration, and performance regression tests, and by participating in our on-call rotation to keep services running smoothly for users worldwide.
