đź“‹ Description
- • Join the technology engine behind one of the world’s largest electronic brokers. As a Full Stack Application Developer at Interactive Brokers you will design, build, and scale the web and mobile applications that process millions of client transactions daily across 150+ global markets.
- • Own end-to-end feature delivery—from translating product requirements into technical specs, through writing production-grade Java, TypeScript, and Python code, to deploying containerized microservices on our internal Kubernetes platform.
- • Architect and refactor high-throughput trading dashboards that display real-time market data with sub-second latency, ensuring 99.99 % uptime during market hours and seamless fail-over across data centers in the US, Europe, and Asia.
- • Collaborate daily with quantitative researchers, product managers, and UX designers in agile squads to launch new asset classes, order types, and risk controls that give retail and institutional clients a competitive edge.
- • Implement secure authentication and authorization flows using OAuth 2.0, SAML, and multi-factor biometrics, while continuously scanning for OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities and maintaining SOC 2 and GDPR compliance.
- • Optimize SQL and NoSQL queries against petabyte-scale databases (Aurora PostgreSQL, Redis, and ClickHouse) to cut query latency by 40 % and reduce cloud spend through intelligent indexing and partitioning strategies.
- • Instrument code with OpenTelemetry traces, Prometheus metrics, and Grafana dashboards; set SLOs and error budgets, then lead blameless post-mortems that turn incidents into durable system improvements.
- • Write clean, testable code supported by 90 %+ unit and integration test coverage in JUnit, Jest, and PyTest; enforce peer reviews via GitHub Enterprise and automate CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Argo CD, and Terraform.
- • Mentor junior developers through pair programming and brown-bag sessions, championing engineering best practices such as domain-driven design, feature toggles, and trunk-based development.
- • Participate in rotating on-call duties with a follow-the-sun model that respects work-life balance; respond to critical alerts within 15 minutes and drive root-cause fixes that prevent recurrence.
- • Contribute to open-source projects and internal libraries that power our React component toolkit, Java Spring Boot starters, and Python quantitative analytics SDK, giving back to the broader tech community.
- • Influence the technical roadmap by presenting architecture decision records (ADRs) to senior leadership, balancing short-term client needs with long-term scalability and regulatory requirements.
- • Work 100 % remote from any location with reliable broadband, while enjoying quarterly in-person innovation summits in Greenwich, London, or Hong Kong to foster culture and cross-team collaboration.
- • Thrive in a meritocratic environment where the best ideas win, releases ship daily, and your code directly impacts the financial outcomes of traders, hedge funds, and robo-advisors worldwide.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of professional experience building distributed web applications in Java (Spring) and modern JavaScript/TypeScript (React or Angular)
- • Proven ability to design RESTful and GraphQL APIs that handle >10k requests/sec with strict latency SLAs
- • Solid grasp of relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) and caching layers (Redis, Memcached)
- • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
- • Nice-to-have: familiarity with financial protocols (FIX, OUCH, ITCH) or prior work in fintech/trading environments
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly travel stipends for team gatherings
- • Competitive base salary plus annual performance bonus and equity in Nasdaq-listed IBKR
- • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance starting day one
- • 401(k) with 6 % company match and immediate vesting
- • Annual $3,500 professional development budget for courses, conferences, and certifications
