📋 Description

• Shape the future of freight tech as a Full Stack Engineer at Loadsmart, a billion-dollar logistics unicorn headquartered in Chicago with a globally distributed remote team. You’ll join a group of industry veterans and user-centered engineers who are reinventing how shippers, brokers, warehouses, and carriers move more with less.
• Own the entire lifecycle of product features—from conception and specification through development, testing, and long-term maintenance—working hand-in-hand with Product Managers, Designers, and fellow Software Engineers to deliver real-world impact.
• Build modern, efficient, and modular user interfaces in React, ensuring every component is reusable, accessible, and thoroughly tested so that drivers, dispatchers, and logistics coordinators can get their jobs done faster and more reliably.
• Architect scalable backend solutions in Python and Django, crafting clean APIs, optimizing database queries, and integrating with third-party freight-rating, mapping, and telematics services to keep millions of loads moving smoothly.
• Collaborate in cross-functional squads that value curiosity, clarity, results, commitment, and teamwork; participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and technical design sessions where your ideas directly influence product direction.
• Embrace a growth mindset by learning and discussing software-development best practices—clean code, TDD, CI/CD, observability, and security—while welcoming feedback from senior engineers who are eager to mentor you.
• Contribute to technical discussions both inside and outside your immediate team, presenting proof-of-concepts, running brown-bag sessions, and writing internal blog posts that raise the technical bar for everyone.
• Experiment with cutting-edge tools and evaluate their pros and cons, whether that means trialing a new state-management library in React or stress-testing an async Python task queue to shave milliseconds off critical endpoints.
• Monitor production systems alongside SREs, using distributed tracing, real-time dashboards, and alerting to ensure 99.9 % uptime for customers who depend on Loadsmart to quote, book, and track freight around the clock.
• Champion accessibility and inclusive design, ensuring that every feature you ship is usable by drivers with varying devices, bandwidths, and abilities, because moving freight should never leave anyone behind.
• Iterate rapidly in a fast-paced environment where deployments happen multiple times per day, feature flags let you test with real users within hours, and data-driven decisions guide what gets built next.

🎯 Requirements

• 1–2 years of hands-on experience in web software development, including at least one production-grade project you can walk us through
• Demonstrated curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies, frameworks, and tools, with the ability to evaluate trade-offs objectively
• Proven self-starter mindset: you identify problems, propose solutions, and drive them to completion without waiting for direction
• Strong result orientation and team-oriented attitude, with examples of how you have delivered impact collaboratively
• Passion for software craftsmanship—clean code, automated testing, and continuous integration are second nature to you
