- • Own the financial integrity of 10,000 next-generation venture funds. As Decile Group’s Fund Controller you are the single source of truth for accounting standards, interpretations, and policies across every fund on the platform. You decide how carried interest waterfalls, management-fee offsets, capital calls, and distributions are booked—then defend those decisions to auditors, LPs, and regulators.
- • Be the final escalation point for every accounting judgment call. When a Senior Fund Accountant confronts a hybrid SAFE/convertible note with a most-favored-nation clause, or a fund-of-funds restructures mid-year, you provide the definitive answer and the documentation trail that keeps external auditors comfortable.
- • Review and approve every financial output that requires professional skepticism—quarterly NAV packages, capital-account statements, K-1 footnotes, and audit PBC schedules. Your initials on a work-paper mean the number is accurate, consistent, and reproducible.
- • Drive consistency across fund structures that range from $5 M rolling-funds to $200 M institutional vehicles. You create the playbook that ensures a subscription facility in a Cayman master-feeder is treated the same as a domestic parallel fund, eliminating “one-off” manual fixes.
- • Partner with Big-Four audit teams and specialty tax providers to deliver clean, predictable reviews. You own the audit timeline, pre-clear complex issues, and translate technical memos into plain English for founders and LPs.
- • Coach and upskill a distributed team of Senior Fund Accountants located from Lagos to Lisbon. You run monthly technical forums, publish cheat-sheets on ASC 946 vs. IFRS 10, and build the career paths that turn bookkeepers into controllers.
- • Translate accounting complexity into scalable product features. Sit shoulder-to-shoulder with Product Managers and Engineers to turn recurring edge cases—think hybrid securities, recycling provisions, or European PRIIPS disclosures—into automated workflows inside Decile Hub.
- • Identify patterns in manual journal entries and build the business case for new controls, validations, and AI-driven anomaly detection. Your insights move work from spreadsheets into code, freeing the team to focus on judgment rather than keystrokes.
- • Lead fund migrations and restructures from an accounting standpoint. When a GP decides to convert an SPV into a full 1940-Act fund, you map the opening balance sheet, design the conversion entries, and shepherd the change through audit and investor communications.
- • Champion a culture of clarity, collaboration, and consistency in a remote-first environment. You run asynchronous stand-ups, document decisions in Notion, and use Loom videos to explain why a particular distribution waterfall method was chosen.
- • Contribute to Decile Group’s mission of democratizing venture capital. Every policy you write and every control you automate lowers the barrier for emerging managers in Lagos, Lahore, and Lima to raise and deploy institutional capital.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of fund accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or controller role for venture capital, private equity, or hedge funds
- • CPA or equivalent professional certification required; Big-Four audit background strongly preferred
- • Deep technical knowledge of ASC 946, IFRS 10, partnership allocations, carried interest waterfalls, and complex financial instruments
- • Proven ability to manage external audits with Big-Four firms and specialty tax advisors
- • Experience leading remote or distributed teams across multiple time zones
- • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with fund-administration platforms (e.g., Carta, Juniper Square, Allvue) and ERP systems
