Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • You will be the face of INNIO Jenbacher on every continent, dispatched at short notice to power plants, landfills, biogas sites, hospitals, and industrial facilities. Your mission: bring Jenbacher gas engines from cold iron to full commercial operation, ensuring every cylinder, sensor, and control loop performs to specification.
- • Commissioning is more than pressing the start button. You will run full functional tests on electrical protection relays, calibrate ignition timing maps, verify safety shut-off valves, and fine-tune air-fuel ratios until NOx, CO, and methane slip sit comfortably inside local emission limits. Each engine is unique—fuel quality, ambient temperature, altitude, and grid code requirements change from site to site—so you will adapt control parameters in real time, using INNIO’s Jenbacher diagnostic tools and your own seasoned judgment.
- • Troubleshooting is detective work at 2 a.m. with a customer’s production line on hold. You will read oscilloscope traces, interpret fault codes, trace CAN-bus messages, and swap suspect modules until the root cause is isolated. Whether it’s a misfiring cylinder on a biogas unit in Brazil or an erratic turbo speed signal on a natural-gas CHP plant in South Korea, you will own the problem until the engine is back at 100 % load.
- • Scheduled maintenance keeps the revenue flowing. You will lead 1 000-hour, 4 000-hour, and major overhaul campaigns, supervising local subcontractors, ordering spare parts, and ensuring every fastener is torqued to spec. Your detailed service reports—complete with vibration spectra, borescope images, and oil analysis results—feed directly into INNIO’s global reliability database, influencing the next generation of engine design.
- • Customer training is part of the deal. After each commissioning or overhaul, you will spend a day (or a week) coaching plant operators on daily checks, alarm lists, and emergency procedures. Your ability to translate complex technical jargon into plain language will determine whether the customer signs the acceptance certificate with a smile.
- • Safety is non-negotiable. You will conduct dynamic risk assessments before every job, enforce LOTO procedures, and ensure hot-work permits are in place. From hydrogen sulfide exposure at a wastewater plant to high-voltage switchgear in a data-center basement, you will model best-practice behavior for everyone on site.
- • Documentation closes the loop. Within 24 hours of job completion, you will upload service reports, photos, and digital checklists into INNIO’s cloud platform. Accurate data enables predictive analytics teams in Jenbach to spot emerging failure modes and dispatch preventive kits before the next outage.
- • Travel is the rhythm of the role. Expect 60–80 % domestic and international travel, often with less than 48 hours’ notice. One month you might be aligning a 1 MW generator in rural Hungary; the next, you could spend three months on a long-term assignment commissioning a fleet of 20 engines for a U.S. landfill-to-energy project. Flexibility with visas, vaccinations, and cultural norms is essential.
- • Career growth is built in. After two years of proven field performance, you can specialize as a Lead Commissioning Engineer, move into technical sales support, or accept a rotational expatriate assignment in Asia or the Americas. INNIO’s internal training academy offers certified courses on Jenbacher DIA.NE XT controls, medium-voltage switchgear, and biogas treatment systems.
