Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own and evolve the global Solution Architecture function at Honeycomb, spanning pre-sales Solutions Architects and post-sales Customer Success Architects across AMER, EMEA, and APAC. You will be the single point of accountability for architecture quality, deal win-rate, and customer value realization at scale.
- • Build and continuously refine the operating model that turns complex enterprise requirements into repeatable, high-confidence wins. This includes standardized discovery frameworks, technical qualification playbooks, ROI calculators, and post-sale success plans that map directly to Honeycomb’s product capabilities and customer business outcomes.
- • Coach and scale a distributed team of senior architects who are already recognized as thought leaders in observability, OpenTelemetry, and cloud-native architectures. You will define career ladders, performance metrics, enablement paths, and a culture of peer mentorship that keeps attrition low and engagement sky-high.
- • Partner daily with Sales leadership to prioritize and quarterback the most strategic opportunities. You will sit in deal reviews, white-board multi-year observability roadmaps with Fortune-500 CTOs, and ensure every proposal is technically bullet-proof and commercially compelling.
- • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to translate field insights into roadmap priorities. You will run quarterly “voice-of-the-field” councils, maintain a living repository of feature gaps and blockers, and negotiate trade-offs that balance short-term deal velocity with long-term product integrity.
- • Establish trust and security as competitive differentiators. You will work hand-in-hand with Security, Compliance, and Legal to create reusable artifacts—architecture diagrams, threat models, data-residency playbooks—that accelerate enterprise procurement cycles and shorten security reviews from months to weeks.
- • Institutionalize post-sale value realization. You will design health-score algorithms, success-criteria templates, and executive QBR (Quarterly Business Review) agendas that make it obvious when Honeycomb is delivering ROI—and when proactive intervention is required.
- • Drive data-driven decision making across the function. You will instrument Salesforce, Gainsight, and product-usage telemetry to surface real-time insights on win-rates, time-to-value, expansion pipeline, and architect capacity—then act on those insights ruthlessly.
- • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in every hiring, promotion, and team ritual. You will set measurable DEI goals, sponsor under-represented communities in tech, and ensure Honeycomb’s global footprint is reflected in the voices that shape our architecture standards.
- • Represent Honeycomb on stage and in the community. You will keynote at KubeCon, AWS re:Invent, and local meetups; publish reference architectures and open-source tooling; and cultivate a brand that makes the best architects in the world want to work for us.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years in customer-facing architecture roles (Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, Customer Success Architect) with at least 5 years leading distributed teams across multiple continents.
- • Proven track record closing or enabling eight-figure ARR deals in the observability, APM, or adjacent DevOps/SRE tooling space.
- • Deep hands-on expertise with OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, and modern cloud-native stacks (Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure, microservices, serverless).
- • Demonstrated ability to build and operationalize playbooks, KPIs, and career ladders that scale from startup to public-company maturity.
- • Exceptional executive presence—comfortable presenting to C-suite, board members, and external audiences up to 5,000 people.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly off-sites in inspiring global locations and a generous home-office stipend.
- • Equity, 401(k) with 4% match, and a no-questions-asked annual professional-development budget of $5,000.
- • Flexible PTO policy (minimum 20 days encouraged) plus recharge weeks where the entire company powers down.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and mental-health coverage for you and 100% subsidized for dependents.
