  • • As the HR Manager at the Alliance for Justice (AFJ), you will be a pivotal member of the Operations team, driving strategic and operational excellence across all facets of human resources. AFJ is a distinguished national association comprising over 135 organizations dedicated to progressive values and the pursuit of an equitable, just, and free society.   • • In this critical role, you will provide essential leadership and expertise in talent acquisition, ensuring a fair and equitable process from recruitment through onboarding. You will meticulously manage employee relations, offering crucial coaching, conflict resolution, and policy guidance to both staff and management, fostering a harmonious and productive work environment.
  • • Your responsibilities will extend to the precise and timely administration of payroll, ensuring strict adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations. You will be the custodian of AFJ's HR policies and procedures, maintaining and updating the employee handbook to guarantee organization-wide understanding and consistent application, thereby reinforcing our commitment to fairness and transparency.
  • • A key aspect of your role will involve overseeing the performance management cycle, from setting clear goals and facilitating regular check-ins to conducting comprehensive performance evaluations and supporting the development of improvement plans. You will also play a vital part in compensation reviews, working collaboratively with leadership to ensure internal equity and competitive remuneration.
  • • You will be instrumental in administering AFJ's comprehensive employee benefits programs, acting as the primary liaison with external vendors to resolve issues and provide exceptional support to our staff. Accuracy and confidentiality are paramount as you manage and maintain HRIS data and records, ensuring effective reporting and data integrity.
  • • Beyond operational HR functions, you will actively contribute to AFJ's commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) by supporting organizational learning and development initiatives designed to enhance employee engagement and professional growth. Your efforts will directly contribute to strengthening our inclusive workplace culture.
  • • To further cultivate a positive and inclusive staff culture, you will take the lead in coordinating staff retreats, planning engaging staff-wide events, and developing activities that boost morale, foster teamwork, and deepen employee engagement.   • • Ensuring unwavering compliance with all employment laws, internal controls, and HR best practices will be a cornerstone of your work, safeguarding the organization and its employees.
  • • You will oversee the end-to-end recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes, ensuring an equitable and consistent candidate and employee experience from the initial application to full integration into the team.
  • • You will manage and resolve employee relations matters, providing expert coaching, facilitating conflict resolution, and offering clear policy guidance to staff and managers to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • • Accurate and timely payroll processing is a critical duty, requiring meticulous attention to detail to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment and tax regulations.
  • • Maintaining and updating HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook is essential to ensure the organization-wide understanding and consistent application of AFJ's HR framework.
  • • You will coordinate the entire performance management process, including goal setting, regular check-ins, formal performance evaluations, and the development of performance improvement plans.
  • • Supporting compensation reviews and ensuring internal equity across the organization in partnership with leadership will be a key responsibility, contributing to fair and competitive compensation practices.
  • • Administering employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans, and collaborating with external vendors to resolve issues and provide staff support, is a core function.
  • • You will manage and maintain HRIS data and records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and the generation of effective reports for strategic decision-making.
